I really love all Miyasakis movies...

Hmm...I've researched some of his works and they seem great. Art and character designs are fantastic. I have yet to see some of his movies though (are they released in the US or are they Japan only?). Which demographic are these movies targeted at btw? Family?

Mostly family. They are watchable by kids, but also have some deeper messages that kids may not get right away. Anyone can enjoy them though to be sure.

Ah...seems to be good then :) I just need to find one of his movies though. They don't release those Japanese movies in Pennsylvania =/

Disney has a channel on Veoh where they've uploaded a bunch of the dubs.  http://www.veoh.com/channelVideos.html?c=StudioGhibliHayaoMiyazaki

Unlike most anime, Miyazaki movies generally have good dubs.  I'd even argue Spirited Away is improved by the dub actors.  Howl's Moving Castle though definitely sucks as a dub.  Not sure how they fucked that one up so bad.

My other choice was Laputa: Castle in the Sky.

I'll rent it.

Please do find some way to watch it and tell me what you think.  It's one of those movies that made me feel like a kid agian. ^_^

I transplanted this from the movie thread. It seemed more appropriate here.

Great movie. Miyazaki really knows how to invent worlds and create interesting characters. I knew this from "Spirited Away" (and to a lesser extent, "Princess Mononoke") but it's nice to have confirmation that he's consistent. Although the analogy is somewhat poor I would say he's like the Miyamoto of animation. I'm looking forward to his next film.

Thanks for the recommendation Naz!

Well, Naz has forced me to watch five of his films so far (at gunpoint. frickin' lunatic), and at this point I'd have to say my favorite is easily Howl's Moving Castle.

I'd rank the ones I've seen so far like this:

Howl's Moving Castle
Spirited Away
Princess Mononoke/Kiki's Delivery Service - tie
Laputa
