Forums - Gaming - How Long Does It Take You To Master A Game?

It is not that hard of a question! Don't stretch it out to insane incomprehensibility Ajax!

If you are ABLE to do that, it is mastery. If you have the ability to actually do it in theory, it is mastery.

Jeez, I didn't want to be this technical. The question is: "When does a game become easy?" Not hard to answer.

To get to know the following:

Controls- about 1 hour
Gameplay- about 3 to 4 hours

It doesn't take me very long...generally the beginning of the game helps me with the learning curve and I will take my skills from that point forward :D

So, Soriku. You own Mario Kart Wii? Can you get 3 stars in every cup? Can you get 3 stars in one cup? Do you have faster times than all the staff ghosts?

Kingdom Hearts II. Can you defeat Xaldin without dying once? Did you complete everything in Jiminy's Journal? Do you have max stats?

I doubt you could have done all that by Day 3.

besides what I told about FFVII that takes forever, you also should know where to find everything by mind, so if I ask you 'where do you find the Death Penalty' you should know it, or where do you find the first Sense materia and so on.. that's the difference between just mastering and being a real Master or Grand Master of a game..

Around a week, depending on the game... When I started playing COD4 online my k/d ratio was bad (0.6), but after I had played for about a week it started to climb, and it's now 1.16 =D

Ajax, please stop. It is not a case of video game trivia. It is how good you are.

I don't care if you can name all 24 characters in Mario Kart, recite the bosses of all FF games backwards, or name all the developers of Super Mario Galaxy. It does not relate to how good you are at the game.

oh so you only mean gameplay skill mastery; well don't underestimate then for example how good guys are that have played Street Fighter II for years while you might think you have mastered it after 3 weeks..

''Hadouken!''

GTAIV's story was a surprisingly easy game to master, it took me under a week to master the great game mechanics.

EA's Nascar titles are really the hardest games for me to master (no assists). Every track requires you to practice all the tuning, braking points and pit entries it could become time consuming (Infinion Raceway is a bitch). This game can take me several months to master most the tracks, but when I put the controller down for a few weeks then try to jump back in I have to master every damn course all over again. (my definition of mastering this game is racing a fairly long race (~30-45min) and finishing with an unscratched car)

WarHawk....impossible to master. Theres really only a few people that can call themselves a master at this game.

It took me a week to master the original Smash Bros., 2 weeks for Melee, and about 2 days for Brawl, with the similarities and all. I shall smite you all in Smash. lol
