StarCraft can probably add more.
Thats at least 9 IP's that M$ have 100% rights to.
So the OP was saying? |
Blue Dragon? That would be like a 360 owner begging for Lair to be ported. You've got a list full of garbage, or with better competition on the PS3 (esp. for racing) or as cross-platform games, with the exceptions of the ones I mentioned in my original post.
Gears 1, Viva Pinata, Fable 1, Mass Effect have all come out on the PC, so it doesn't bother me that they are not coming to the PS3 (that cuts the number of IPs/reasons-to-buy-a-360 you have listed down considerably). I would prefer to play Viva Pinata on a console, but with modern HDTVs acting as giant monitors for a computer you can hide behind them, its not too big a deal. I am stoked that BioShock is coming to the PS3, because, as with Oblivion and NG: Sigma, it will undoubtably be a superior version -- as all long-term ports seemed to have turned out to be. Its only the cross-platform releases that seem to suffer on the PS3, although even that has lessened a LOT lately, presumably due to the developers having their, likely more complicated, PS3 engines finally up to par. In the future the tables may be turned on the 360, due to this same issue -- yet another reason to not bother owning one.
The fact that gaming is about games, and not about which console you own, is even more relevant in this situation.
What I'm saying is that, even with the 360s predominance in #s thusfar in America, I don't see many 1st party games or games published by MS that I want, relative to PS3 games. Why doesn't MS push a little harder with the publishing? If they cannot guarantee that a game will not ever come to the PS3, or they go and publish a scalable, better version for Windows... why would I ever want a 360?
The MS strategy doesn't seem to work for me -- I just can't see a reason to buy a 360 (the reason always boils down to exclusives for me). I'm merely wondering how commonplace this is.
