Forums - Sony - Can someone explain Sony's PS3 warranty for me?

@disolitude

buy one from costco,,they are mostly sold out here in canada but sometimes if you check often you can find one(why from costco?it's life time warantty lol as they will exchange it with new one whenever something happens to it)they only carry 40 GB in costco though.

I actually think buying brand new is better ,cause you are paying %70-%80 of the full price without the full warranty.Also, the feeling is more satisfying for me to know what the console has been through but that's just me.

anyways ,,,regardless of what you do,I hope you enjoy it and don't forget to play uncharted ;)

@Dogs Rule
Thanks man. This is what I wanted to know.

@SpartanFX
I'll check out Costco but its hard to refuse an offer on craigslist when someone is selling a 60GB for 300 bucks. I know what you mean about buying new though. I did what with the 360 as I didn't wanna roll the dice there...

I've already pre-ordered MGS4 and will get resistance and Uncharted...a year and a half later on the scene and I didn't miss anything :)

no love for heavenly sword?I know every one hated on it but in my book it was a 9/10,,,I bought it for 35 after tax.you will be amazed at the performances of the actors in this game,,,,,graphics are beautiful , combat is fun,,,,all in all I think if you find it for around 30 bucks it's definitly worth your time,,,(i said heavenly sword cause I saw you liked DMC4 and I own both game and I think HS is better,devil may cry has some cheap last gen touches like the blue crystal web in the fight sequences ,,,HS:  9/10,,,, DMC4:  8.5/10)

about console:

just check with the guy the manufacturing date,,My 60 GB was built on Feb 07 and it works very well.(it says the date underneath the console)I think it's best not to get the very first two months 60 gb PS3 .( i tend to think that they sort out any problems after 3-4 months)so if you decide to get used ,get one that's bult after feb 07.

Its 150 dollars to get fixed because my ps3 just broke after 1year and 3 months. So im argueing with sony everyday to see if i can get it fix for free and they sound like they are just going to charge me for shipping and handling now.

Yeah that sucks man...but such is life I guess. Thanks for the info tho...

I think I'll just get a used one then and worry about fixing it with sony if it does happen. One can do everything right, eat healthy, excercise...and still get hit by a car and die... So a new console can also break if I spill coffee on it :)

I got what they call the yellow light of death and it seems to only happen in the 20gb and 60gb.  If your get the 40gb or 80gb u should be okay.  Yellow light of death means a hardware defect but is sounds like sony fixed the problem with the 40gb or 80gb.

Yah I may pick up heavenly sword eventually but between the wii, 360 and ps3...it may be hard to dedicate time to that game. Ninja Gaiden 2 is on my preorder too so...:)

I wouldn't worry about it as I've heard Sony has the best return policy.
