I usually check game guides after I've beaten a game to see if there are any secrets I've missed, and the only site I check is gamefaqs.com, you can always find great guides with so much work put on them that are made by gamers!

Have any of you ever written one?? 

I'm written a couple of reviews, one for the Wii hardware, one for Bully, one for Scarface, one for Assassin's Creed, etc. I also submitted a lot of game data. But I just can't commit myself to writing a guide. You have to play different parts several times, answer the questions of idiots, make these nifty ASCII titles...just not my thing.

Yeah you gotta have a lot of free time and dedicate yourself to the game playing it several times...
