Foot pedals. Acceleration and braking. Maybe it will be optional.

You are too old to understand hip games like F-Zero. Just go away and play your Brain Training games.

When you're as old as me you can't be hip unless you try; except you can't be hip if you're trying.

But just like the next-gen (and HD), the next F-Zero doesn't start until Nintendo says so.

Super Glove Ball. The game where you go around grabbing balls.

P.S. fkusomot, is f*cking hip.

Nintendo is going back to their Family Computer and Nintendo Entertainment System roots. They never really left that idea behind although they did sometimes get sidetracked. Wii Fit is Nintendo's latest signal to the world that they are once again in touch with the market and serious about selling real games for real people. They are introducing a collection of games that people will enjoy playing and an innovative device that will supplement and enhance that enjoyment.

Wii Fit is guaranteed to sell out for as long as the Wii itself is selling out. The boards will also be used in successful FPS's, sports games, rhythm/dance games, a new Mario Party and many more. It will also be used by doctors, physical therapists, sports trainers, super models and dietitians.

Nintendo's stated demographic has always been "E" for EveryOne. Once again, thanks in large part to Shigeru Miyamoto, they have created the winning formula and created a tsunami inside and outside of the gaming world. Well, they've been there before, they know how to ride that wave. Once again Nintendo is inventing what gaming is and will be, the true beginning of the "next-gen" is starting with the introduction of Wii Fit.

I hope this thread is a joke.

I mean come on...Wii Fit? The true beginning of the "next-gen"?

No offense, but if you posted this thread on any other general gaming site, you'd get laughed at.

You'll now be lumped in with all the hardcore gamers that just don't understand...I'm in that fun "little" group as well.

Ghost: isn't your sig too long? I got a message awhile ago saying mine had to be shortened so that it didn't go below the date of the post when you just have a 1-line post. Then again, it's all about the Wii so perhaps the mods...n/m... =)

I've done the one line of text test and passed it, but feel free to write off the whole site if you'd like!

And my sig isn't all about the Wii.

Windbane, I would have to say stop bitching about the mod's and do not try and moderate members. :)

That is utterly lame.

Heh, it just seemed a bit much.  His avatar is longer.  I need to fix that at some point =)

The DDR crowd already has their dance pads and won't be interested in Wii Fit's weak "step-up" routine, and the people who REALLY take DDR seriously are already in great shape.

As amazing as arcade Time Crisis-styled FPS games would be on the balance board, they're just not gonna happen. Metroid Prime 3 was incredible, and it flopped.

360 has a monopoly on the FPS market, and I'm fine with that. For some reason that's been MicroSoft's whole goal all along, and was very obvious when they were buying exclusive rights to Halo, and the console versions of CounterStrike, Doom 3, and Half-Life on the original XBox. They can have that one single genre and the single-genre-fans that come with it, and let the Wii shine everywhere else.

But it pisses me off when I know the potential for the greatest FPS of all time is on the Wii now and it's going to be wasted by everybody except ... EA I bet.

In fact, I bet Wii Fit will sell a hundred billion Balance Boards, and EA will make a thousand shitty shovelware games for it and ruin it for everybody. Didn't they already announce 4 pieces of shit for the thing? Including a Boogie sequel?

I guess Nintendo could pave the way again, and show devs how to use the board the way they showed devs how to use the remote and how to use the touchscreen. But they're not gonna make an FPS for the thing. They'll just use it in a new WarioWare or something I don't care about.

For fuck's sake, you could just slap together Wii Fit's slalom with Link's Crossbow Training. BAM, you have a game where you use the balance board for skiing, and use the remote for shooting a gun, and reenact the kickass skiing chase/shootout scenes from every 3rd James Bond movie.

So much opportunity will be wasted, JUST LIKE the Power Glove. JUST LIKE the Virtual Boy.

And Dearest Frank: Yet another thread about this bloody topic to teach us the greatness of Nintendo's strategy? As I said in another one of those what seemed to be 150 WiiFit threads: I'd never blame WiiFit, I blame Jane Fonda. (I still love Barefoot in the Park, Barbarella & Klute though). The 70s were the last decade where we were allowed to bear our miserable existences without being reminded of our faults every day. Then Reagan, Thatcher & Hasselhoff took over and the decline started.

Well, video gaming aside, I'm pretty much in agreement with your assessment of the world situation and how great the 70's were (the 60's were pretty good too). I think I need new glasses pretty soon also. But about video games, well, I'm still playing Brain Training (and BT2). And I'm still crazy after all these years.

Judging from the social and cultural revolutions going on in the 60s I have no doubt that this decade was even greater than the 70s, but I was too young to have any personal experience. The only thing I remember from the 60s is the moon landing (it's burnt into my memory as about 30 extremely excited adults gathered in my parents' living-room to watch it on one of the few TV's owned by my relations).

Hm, I thought you're only one year older. Do you have personal memories of the 60s?

And a bit more on topic: Maybe unconsciously I'm taking Wii Fit as a personal threat as I don't really like any exercise equipment. But the damned 80s still got me - like everyone else  - and so I bought a used recumbent ergometer (or whatever this thing is called) some days ago. It will be delivered in 2 weeks and I'm not sure if I'll be using this thing more than once or twice (atthough I plan to use it regularly, of course - as always, of course). I have a bad feeling this will soon be used as a 2nd clotheshorse, just like the old ergometer that collected more dust during the last 6 years than any Wii in the world. I think I'll have another smoke now...

This isn't "any other general gaming site", this is the only website that reports weekly numbers and has aggregate historical numbers.

Hyperbole aside, I've been saying the same thing about Wii Fit since the 12th of July, 2007.
