Yeah, but neither is it the main purpose of consoles....

1) There's the wii, with its' main purpose being socializing and for non-gamers to pretend that they know what's going on in the gaming world. See. It's for non-gamers. No gaming going on there.

2) Then there's HD consoles, with their main purpose being to perform as media centers that are so Hi-Def that they're like the Matrix , but still not gaming machines. That hi-def stuff is serious business, don't you know.

3)And finally we have the Vic-20, with it's main purpose being to do your taxes.

So in the end, PC still wins the gaming war and that's all that matters.

The purpose of the WonderSwan was to give the progamers who made it something to work on after the VirtualBoy Advance got canceled and they got fired from Nintendo.

As far as the console wars go, if the Neo-Geo can just hold on for a couple of more decades it should be a shoe-in.
