The moon landing is fake...

Mother 3 was delayed, so they couldn't use Mother 3 characters in Melee. They had to go back to Ness.

I still see Marth(my main) being replaced by a female FE character with a similar move set.

MOTHER 3 wasn't delayed during the release of Melee, it was actually canceled. The project wasn't started up again until 2004.

Anyway, if Ness is out, you can't select Pikachu then Ness quickly to make the game act like a grade 5 student! That would suck.

Oh my goodness the ignorance. If it was true information, then Sakurai wouldn't want those things revealed. IF these things started ending up being true and they HADNT made that post, then he would have reached cult status as a gaming informant just like a lot of people before him that didn't deserve the recognition. They didn't HACK his account. They most likely MADE him do it. You are so closed minded, I can't believe I'm even trying to explain the possibility to you.

Yes, I've played the ROMS, but they are the same freakin games! both the SNES and NES games. These are the games that we know here in the States. We don't know MOTHER. We know Earthbound. Do you think that with all the Mario games, Zelda games, Starfox games, Metroid games, etc that Nintendo is going to turn the Earthbound series on its head and make MOTHER 3 different? They have NEVER done that with a franchise. Your statements are laughable and pointless!

I didn't say that you who liked Ness shouldn't care about his removal. That would be stupid. If you like Ness, OF COURSE you are going to care about his removal. That is why Sakurai made that statement in his update because he knew some people would care. What I am saying is that those who will care once Brawl is released are going to be in the few. And as for "all of us"....hahaha. you mean the whole 4 people on this board or the whole 100 people in the US who are going to have a fit because their Earthbound character is named Lucas instead of Ness and has blonde hair instead of brown. I'm sure it would matter more if your name actually WAS Ness and you had brown hair. if the hole is there then there is no gaurantee about it being Game and Watch. If there is a franchise not returning like this guy said, then it is Game and Watch and there is nothing on these updates to suggest otherwise.

I think it's possible to get another MOTHER character. I wouldn't bet my next breath, but it's possible. The franchises getting the most characters are most likely going to be the most popular widespread Nintendo franchises like Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, etc.

The most worrying concern is that if that guy was right, which I find highly likely seeing what has come true so far, then he said only 34 characters. That is much less than what other people had reported. Of course they could always add a couple between him making those statements and release date, if they are true.

not really. possible characters is actually interesting. Did you see the argument about when Wi-Fi was officially announced? Now THAT was a classic. Besides, half of that was his post quoted anyway. The guy is willingly ignorant to possibilities and makes erroneous statements to argue with. Not very productive and I do feel stupid for having taken such weak bait.

The sad thing is that I never said Ness was not a possibility for return. I said it was highly unlikely and the evidence was strongly against it. It's the evidence that makes it seem so obvious. I just thought it should be noted that that informant might have actually be real at least until proven otherwise, but apparently, you cannot do that sort of thing in this thread without having people try to butcher you with little warrant.

 Yeah, I guess thats possible.  They need more females.  I don't think Marth is coming back either though I liked his white outfit.  It would be really cool to have one of the other characters that transform like the Hawk, Cat, etc.  I forget what they are called.

Yes, you are absolutely right. Sakurai has a crack team of spies spread out accross the internet. When there is a hint of spoilers posted they break into the kid's house and hold an AK-47 to his head and force him to type that he was making it up. You'd better watch it! They will read this and know your onto them! You'll be shipped off to a secret Smash Bros. Spoiler prison.

Apparently you don't know MOTHER at all. There is a translated MOTHER NES rom and it's nothing like Earthbound. Earthbound was an SNES game only. I don't know what you played, but you seem to be a little screwed up and confused. So no, if you actually knew what you were talking about you would know that MOTHER 3 is in no way guaranteed to be like Earthbound.

Now, numbers 1-14 only have one thing in comon. They are all returning franchise symbols. Hrmm. So, every franchise symbol up through 14 is a returning franchise. There is only one number missing in there. There is only one franchise missing in there. Every single franchise with an icon has a represented character. Well Mr. Smartass, let's use some logic here: Game & Watch has to be the missing franchise icon which means he has to be returning. The guy and your crazy conspiracy theories are wrong. Deal with it.

Finally, a compilation of evidence as to why the guy is wrong:

1.) It was not the first time nor the first forum that the guy had posted discredited game rumors on. In fact, on both gamespot and gamefaqs forums he was a well known bullshitter and people tried to warn us of that in the topic. It's not even just Smash that he had posted false rumors about. He had posted rumors about numerous unrelated franchises always saying "don't ask for my source."

2.) His first prediction was incorrect, and he only got buy on a technicality. He said at least two of these would be proven right and only one was right.

3.) He said with absolute certainty that one Franchise wouldn't be returning, but we can see from that list up there that every old franchise is still represented. The chances of that not being Game and Watch are very slim.

4.) He said with absolute certainty that the next confirmed newcomer would be Ness. Unless we (and I'm pretty sure no on does) believe that Sakurai is secretly monitoring the entirity of the internet for spoilers, it's pretty obvious he was wrong about that. Not only was the next confirmed newcomer not Lucas, but the next two weren't.

5.) The man admitted he was lying... he called everyone on the forums idiots for believing him and laughed. Again, he had done this many times in the past. By believing him you are just letting this jackass win. Please don't do that. It's really embarassing.

Yeah... Everyone was just willing to believe this guy because he sounded confident, his predictions were specific enough to sound like he knew something, but not so specific to make it obvious he was lying, and there was a similar incident before Melee's release where the whole character roster was slipped.

Considering that leak before Melee, it's pretty obvious that Sakurai/Sora don't have the power to "make someone say they were lying," or whatever. If there was a leak, there's no way they would even know who it was. They would probably be using some work-around IP if they wanted to leak info.

And what was the result with Melee? Very few people believed the guy because he made stupid predictions like "Roy" and "Mr. Game and Watch." So the real leak meant nothing. Which is why no one at Sora would care about someone doing something as trivial as telling the NUMBER of characters.
