It is available for download.

 You've downloaded it already?

twice. Once for my 40GB and once for my mother's 60GB, of which I posted earlier today. GTA was freezing 100% of the time on itwhen I tried it a few hours ago. I just deleted the entire GTA4 game data from it. I'll let you guys know, by editiing this post if the new firmware update has improved it. Here's hoping it does, not that my mother will play GTA4. EDIT: Well, it did not fix my 60GB stability issues. After installing the firmware, restoring factory default settings, deleting and reinstalling GTA4 game data including update 1.01, the game still crashes 100% of the time before it has a chance to get through the opening scene before you meet Roman. I guess I'll have to call Sony tomorrow. I love dealing with Customer service reps. It's an extra treat since I have to deal with Vonage customer service for my fax too. I need a secratary.

That's messed up. How it is with your other games? If it's fine you might want to consider getting a replacement of the game.

@Dogs Rule - What about issues when quitting a game, did it fix those?

here it is:

"I just want to clarify that this upcoming firmware update isn’t related to GTA IV. For those of you who may still have an issue playing the game on your PS3, we have identified a solution that should resolve the issue. You can contact SCEA Consumer Services for support — their contact info and hours of service, as well as more information on this issue, are available in our Knowledge Center (http://playstation.custhelp.com/).

I hope this helps man.

Thread title had me confused for a bit.

I've downloaded it, can't see what it did though. I turned on my PS3 this morning and it was there. After download and at work went to www.playstation.co.uk and there wasn't anything about it. Will it improve BC on some PS1 games? (like FF8?)

Hmm, pie.
