The best of both worlds--

So upon the glowing lists of abilities the SDF can put on it's resume, failure at basic math is another one, excellent. Only kidding Imperial, but seriously how did your PS3 fall down your stairs MULTIPLE times? Anyway, my PS3 experience isn't that crash hot: 1 RROD on an otherwise perfect 360 VS MANY MANY MANY freezes on my PS3 including online CoD4 and GTA4 (my most played games) It's good to hear sony is getting better at their turnovers, I'm guessing MS's speed has something to do with it. Anyway, good luck with your console when it gets back getrdone. |
Sooo, your 360 completely died and had to be sent back to the manufacturer once, and your PS3 has had to be restarted many many many times?
Sounds like the PS3 wins.
OT, I have only seen this once before (the yellow light) so you kind of did win the lottery.
I own all three current consoles and a great gaming rig, now thats out of the way.

"Why post something like this when all it will get is PS3 owners blinded to reality replying? BOTH THE PS3 AND BLUE-RAY WILL NOT LAST 3 YEARS! TECHNOLOGY CHANGED TOO FAST!"
"is it Wii FIt that has sold as many as PS3's sold? Thats a LOL Look at the total sales of software is it just me that sees Nintendo titles hitting 10m+ and you say they arent making a difference? Another LOL!"
"Hell, with all the negative hype Sony spin, people just aren't interested cost is too high and to get the true HD experience (1080p, 7.1 surround) you will need a $1000+ system. THAT IS GOING TO DO IT IN A RECESSION! PS4 will not happen"
I've been scouring the Internet to see if I could find out reliable impartial failure rates for each console. What I could find was:
Industry standard

Well i got my system back to day. Its a refurbished system and ill have to redownload everything back to my HD. (Sony needs to learn from microsoft on the hd for there next system). Im very happy with the way sony handled everything. I spent an hour trying to not have to pay the 150 dollars since my system year and 2 months old. Im the four person out of my friends that the yellow light of death happen to. All four of use are starting to think sony did this on purpose, because they were loosing like 150-200 dollars on each system but after a year it breaks and u have to pay 150 back to sony. ^_^

Compressed Air cans for cleaning?
Kinda worrisome to see PC maitenance becoming the norm for Game consoles. I mean, my PS2 last gen never neaded dusting nor has my Wii. Guess its just another sign of the times.

The guys at the local gamestop were talking about a "bunch" of people getting the "yellow light" though I have no clue what SKU, actual numbers of people or what circumstances.
^ i do use compressed air cans for cleaning at least once a month or when i start seeing dust on the vents.

^ It's really not a good idea for video game consoles since you're basically only blowing most of the dust further into the machine. It's not like a PC where you can crack it open and blast it from the inside.
^i use a low power vacuum cleaner on it after the air can, because in the sony safety book it actually says to use a vacuum cleaner.

When i called sony the dude made it sound like the cell chip was bad and it was going to break no matter what, it was just a matter of time.
