I'm buying this. Zoids games are really, really fun as is the anime.

Star Ocean 4 would flop the series right into oblivion if it was 360 exclusive.
And, like everything else JRPG that MS has tried, SO4 on 360 would not sell 360's in Japan. Not enough to make up for the money spent, anyway.

Star Ocean is a Square Enix game, this is Atlus so unrelated. I don't see a developer attached to it, so I'm assuming Atlus themselves are making this? But the announcement and then quick release sounds more like they are only publishing it. Atlus publishing a flood of 360 games all of a sudden. It really looks like the 360 is the only current gen console where the JRPG ball is firmly rolling finally. And the two Japanese consoles are lagging behind. |
The game was realesed in japan last year by Takara Tomy so Atlus are only localising and publishing it.

Well it is based off an Anime. So yeah i'd say so. I mean it was released in the US but wasn't that popular to my knowledge. (The Anime)
The Zoids games have been ok so far from what i've heard... they keep making them, makes me think there is a userbase out there somewhere for them.
SRPG always sounds good to me though, i'll pick this up when i have a 360.

@Saiyar: Thank you for your response.
So Atlus publishin 3 Strategy RPGs exclusively for the 360 in literally 3 months. None of which are actually developed by them.
Very interesting and hopefully they all deliver.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

I buy Zoids games. http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/924420.asp?q=Zoids the last one I bought.
Eh, usually when a publisher announces a bunch of stuff right before release it means they have no confidence in the game's quality, and at this point it's more cost effective to just release a piece of crap than to try and scrap the project.

It may make me switch back to buying a 360 before PS3 depending on the quality of the other two... hard to say, Valkria will be tough to beat... Operation Darkness just sucked demo wise at least due to the camera, and lack of movement after firing... which you need in shooter SRPGs.

@naznatips: or they just decided to support the 360 and test the market for the console by picking up a bunch of JP-only releases and publishing them in the US.
@Kasz216: I thought OD was ok. Valkyria looks very good and with a good team behind it.

That statement is inconsistent. If they are testing the market they aren't supporting it, they are testing it. I would say this is much more likely to be the test side of things since they aren't bothering to advertise and are only announcing them near the release date.
Personally I want a PS3 much more than a 360, and the PS3 will be my next console. I know there are JRPGs on the 360 but so far they have played it extremely safe and haven't been particularly interesting. I'm much more interested in Valkyria Chronicles and White Knight Chronicles (I don't care for modern FF games though).
That said, the most interesting looking console JRPGs to me right now are all on the Wii. Fragile, Oboro Muramasa, and King's Story.

The original Zoids were my favourite toys as a kid. The "new" versions were vastly inferior though (just like with the Transformers or Masters of the Universe).
