Forums - Gaming - Which HD is right for me?

For me I like 360 because of their game library.
I don't have PS3 yet but planning to purchase it mostly for BR -which is become less attractive right now.

You really shouldn't be asking us about gaming libraries. You can go on IGN.com to check reviews for each console. On this site there are two threads dedicated to future exclusive releases on both consoles for new buyers to consider.

PS3: http://vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=19171

360: http://vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=19165

Don't listen to us because you'll probably never get an honest, unbiased answer like you're looking for. Your best decision will be you doing your own homework and reaching a conclusion yourself. Check both threads for upcoming releases and look at review sites fo past releases to see what excites you the most.

@ onyxmeth i think your right.

but i will try to answer even so. i think you get the most bang for your buck with the ps3 if you want blu-ray. Games are there, online is free, etc the game line up from now on is awesome. just a good buy.

Xbox is awesome as well. lots of games to play now and good ones coming good online service.

i have every system and i cant live without either of them. but if you want jp type games this gen it looks like the wii and ps3 are the way to go.

Now what bad things abou the ps3 did you hear?

So... Rol hates the PS3 because it ate his sister?

Right now 360 has broader library but it clearly still does have reliability issues and if you plan on being online you need to consider paying for MS service vs Sony's service being free.

On flip side PS3 is without question more reliable product but it has weaker library overall (although i suspect this will cease to be the case by end of year or early 2009 at latest). PS3 does get you BR if that is of interest.

I'd say have a good long look at what exclusives are known for each for at least next 12 months - i.e. 360 will have Fable and LO but PS3 will have FF plus GT5 & MGS and White Knight Story (I think that's the title) - and see which titles appeals most to you.

Multi-platform titles (of quality) are essentially the same on each now (despite pixel pouring fanboys). If you look at DMC4 or Asssassins' Creed or Burnout Paradise (or GTA IV) on a typical setup then to the average joe they look and play the same.

If I was to consider a 'tilt' approach I'd probably suggest the PS3 might be better for you as in the long run I think its more likely it will end up with a more diverse library (particularly outside of shooters) than 360 - but of course that's just my own feeling.

Or you could get a PC!

Your name may be Reasonable but you did a pretty good job of slighting the 360 with that lineup listing.

By the end of the year:

360:
Splinter Cell: Conviction
Fable 2

Infinite Undiscovery
Too Human
Halo Wars
Banjo Kazooie 3

Ninja Gaiden II

For the PS3, I'll extend into next year (a little unfair I know but since the OP doesn't like FPS, the PS3 lineup is a little weak in 2008):
LittleBigPlanet
FFXIII
GT5
White Knight Story
MGS4

By the middle of 2008, I think the lineups between the two will be comparable. The PS3 will have fewer games but more blockbusters (GT5, MGS, FF). On the other hand, the 360 will have an absolute mountain of 80+% games by that point but not quite as many blockbuster games.

the user clearly stated he perfer Japanese games over western game. So, fixed for you

So literally you are comparing Infinite Undiscovery and NGII with FFXIII, White Knight Story and MGS4

He also said he liked old school stuff... platformer adventure games and Gran Turismo is a Japanese game.

So you can put back everything... except Splinter Cell.

here's what you ask yourself.... is FFXIII a must have for you?

More like are: GT 5 and God of War 3 must have games for you. I would put those two before FF XIII.

^GT5 is a Japanese game made for Europeans...UNSTRIKE IT!.

OnT: It depends how much you'll want FF13, currently the 360 has more Japanese RPGs by far. But the PS3 will be getting Disgaea3 and Valkyria Chronicles this year, aswell as Shin Megami Tensei, Steambot chronicles, White Knight Story and ofcourse FF13 + FF13 versus down the road. But I believe when it's all said and done, the PS3 will have more of a Japanese catered library than 360 in the end (obviously).

Also as Blu-ray is region free, and the OP likes Japanese style games; Cross Edge, Initial D: Extreme Stage, Yakuza 3, and even Siren: Blood Curse could also be taken into consideration.

Edit: Oh and Blazblue: Calamity Trigger.

I wouldn't say you could.  Most people aren't willing to play a game in a different language and play the import game.  It's safer to assume he wouldn't.

As for what I think...

hard to say. Unless you really Need Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid (which I assume you don't since you have to ask thing question.)

I'd go with 360.

PS3 has some really good Japanese games announced, but a lot of them arent' likely to leave Japan.

While 360 has shown a willingness to buy japanese focused exclusives and timed exlusives which basically have to come out in the US as well since they aren't going to be big hits in Japan with no one having a 360.

Too many people have bought PS3's expecting their favorites franchises and that a rush of japanese support would hit PS3 and have been disapointed.

If you had to get one today. 360 would oddly be the "Safe" choice... and the one more likely to get more exclusive Japanese games released in the US based on current trends.

Which raises the question of whether MGS should be there... After all, other than story, they're very similar games (SC more action, MGS more... Weird stuff).
