man I've seen the goofyest people pick up the hottest chicks...
I guess the question I'm trying to get at is where did we come up with these social constructs?
How can a chick be too hot for me? What would make someone "out of my league"?
So what if the goofiest people pick up the hottest chicks? Is it not expected of them to pick up hot chicks?
And what how can someone be "in my league"? How can two people determine that they're both in each other's leagues?

That's not it though. It's simply a matter of perspective based on "Can you get the girl?" If your buddy thinks you have no chance with a girl you have an interest in, then to him, she's out of your league. If you think that you have no chance with the girl you set your eyes on, then to you, she's out of your league.

If you're a dude, and you like a chick and she happens to be really hot, but then your bud tells you "don't even try. She's way out of your league" What does that really mean? Is it a matter of how attractive you are? Social Status? Wealth? Game? Are you too fat (in reference to the other thread, lol)?

It means that if you start dating her your friend is going to be jealous... and that's about all it means when a friend tells you that a girl is out of your league.

It means, she's a pro hockey player and your still in juniors.. get training
what? those arent the leagues were talking about?
I think most people use it to mean:
"person A is way hotter than person B, so it's odd for them to fuck each other. person A could fuck someone way hotter, since hotness is the only thing that matters, right?".
Ultimately a very shallow way to perceive relationships, but I guess frustration from someone perceive more ugly than oneself getting lucky has to vent out somehow. =P

I'm still lol'ing! :)
But in topic, I guess something as relative as someone being "out of your league" is all in the eyes of the beholder. Heck, you may even think a girl is out of your league, but your buddy could think differently. Generally I think the "out of your league" thing has to do with attractiveness and social standing. In other words he/she is too hot, popular, cool, and/or wealthy to consider you. But that is just an assumption, you really have to talk to someone to know if they are really that stuck up or picky. Still, I've saw some hot broads with not so hot dudes, and vice versa.
"I feel like I could take on the whole Empire myself."
i have never had trouble with it, i am very charismatic in person and not bad looking at all

Society sees things in the perspective of classes. These classes can divide amoung many lines such as economic, social, physical, religous, etc. Your friend can be telling you that you are in an obviously different class.
Or he could be defining a class based on attractiveness and telling you that you dont stack up.
Your friend may be a douchbag
