Forums - Microsoft - New Banjo-Kazooie theory - Compatible with Wiimote!

Well what is the specific of the transmission between the Wiimote and the Wii?
is it like:
left 2 sec, A, B,
or:
Wii code 1, Wii code 2, Wii code 3.
cause the fact that you can use it on PC only means you can write a software to read the code, that doesn't make it legal if it's the code too that is patented. And seeing as there are no other devices that has the same range of functions and buttons as the Wiimote, i'd be sure there is something in there where the code is specific to the Wii and patented... Thus making it illegal to hijack the Wiimote for other uses.

Now if they did do their Xmote and the device happends to be hackable to read Wiimotes signal, then there is nothing MS would be responsible for... but just the Wiimote, no.

Around the Network

Well, we have seen any 3rd party wiimotes yet so I suppose it might be hard to reverse engineer.

How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

Did MS seriously say "Dont forget to bring your wii-mote?"

Wouldn't that require licensing the Wiimote technology to MS? I don't think it has anything to do with patents, but MS couldn't make a game that uses the Wiimote without buying the license from Nintendo...
