Forums - Gaming - Is anyone else disappointed with GTA IV?

The game let me down. I was so hyped for this game, I skipped 4th period to get the game b4 anyone else did, and the game was a total letdown. Its pretty hard to explain why but

for me the missions are way to repetetive and lack creativity compared with the previous GTA games. Its just go work for some guy, kill some people, lose your wanted level and get a shit load of cash you have nothing to spend it on.

The online is fun to many, but to me its boaring. Even when playign with friends, its boaring. I just beat the game and the ending was dissapointing. I finished the game in about 20 hours with no cheats. Ive just been playing the Haze demo for the past 10 hours lool.

Darts pool bowling are all boaring. I dont know why this game doesnt appeal to me the same way san andreas and vice city did. San andreas took me frikin 2 months to finish even with cheats, and there was still stuff to do after the game was done like gangwars. San andreas for example had turf wars exceriseing (spelling?) eating girlfriends and planes heelicopters and all these other cheats you could have fun with. After I got halfway in GTA i just said fuck this im playing Resistance.

Its still a good game, and even the 360 DLC wouldnt interest me much as I think it will be the same kill and run. The main problem with this GTA game in my opinion was the repetetive missions.

Does anyone else feel the same way? My brother and my friends were letdown by the game also, specifically the story mode.

I don't usually agree with illiterate people, but this game was a definite step down for the series. It has to be expected that the world in this game wouldn't be as huge as San Andreas, but it was due to the fact that a brand new engine had to be developed and most of the time was spent on graphical changes.

Just like how GTA3 is disappointing compared to the Playstation 2 sequels, I'd expect the next game to feature a larger world and more interesting gameplay now that the core engine is complete.

Take it to the official thread. It's at the top of the gaming page.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

yea it was a letdown, its supposed to be the best grand theft auto yet, and it doesnt even have half the things that san andreas does.

i completely agree with the whole repetitive thing, every other mission is the same as the previous one.

i dont know how u beat it, im at about 30% and i havnt put the disc back in my ps3 in days.

You're making me not want to play the game.

You're severely oversimplifying the game. The missions were a lot deeper than kill kill kill. One could make a point that all GTA games are like ths, but it doesn't make it true.

And for 2 months for GTA: SA, I doubt the game is over 150 hours long. Do you mean that you PLAYED it for 2 months? I played Kingdom Hearts 2 for a year, but that doesn't make it 1000 hours. To me, it just sounds like that you played it on and off without much care. If not, you just plain sucked at the game but got better before GTAIV came out so it seemed too easy.

yea 2 months to beat san andreas because there was much much more to do in that game, and it was a ps2 game compared to a 360/ps3 game.

Your lack of capitalizing and punctuation agrees with that statement.

Should have been:

"My 83 average in English disagrees with that statement."

Anyhoo, on topic:

I am.  I've almost stopped playing.
