Forums - Gaming - Don't trust Gametrailers anymore

So I poked the console-wars snake last week and learned a big Fat Albert lesson about people's feelings in the process. Gametrailers, with a longer history than me, not so much.

We've been hearing a lot of chatter about how they botched a comparison video of Race Driver: GRID. In an attempt to show cooler crash physics on the 360, they used PS3's instead — easily identifiable by the controller map in the lower left corner. Doh!

Gametrailers took down the video after getting barbecued in the comment flamewar. But someone already YouTubed it and spliced in comments pointing out the negligence, or worse.

Anyway, here you go. Just shows that console comparison is absolutely the third rail discussion in our neck of the woods. And if you undertake it, everything has to be bulletproof, or you'll get ripped for looking like a shill.

I have to add, Gametrailers comparison are mostly fakes, because they don't use HDMI support with PS3 versions. They are overrating Xbox 360 everytime.

Anyone that watches those comparison videos is a moron that deserves to be duped... Thats all.

I agree with that, mostly anyway. For every couple thousand people who watch it, i'd bet like... one of them actually has both systems and the rest are goofy fanboys who just want bragging rights. (If that.) Still for that person that has both systems... I guess it's imortant... really i'd just get the PS3 version even if the graphics were worse to avoid RROD.  While others would do the opposite just for achivements.

Either way, I say wait till monday. I honestly still think it's just a matter of a mistake in video editing.

Goes to show you, there is a high level of bias in the review world now.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

Wow, that's... about as bad as the whole Gamespot debacle. I know Microsoft is a sponsor of GameTrailers, but I didn't know they were as corrupt as Gamespot.

Well, ignoring all reviews from both Gamespot and GameTrailers now.

Wow, this is a little late, due to my efforts yesterday this video made it to the top ten on Digg. And is still gathering diggs at a pretty decent clip.

EDIT: Furthermore there was already a thread nearly 5 pages long about this:

It was shitty editing by gametrailer, they used a PS3 edit for that one part and stuck a "360" on the side. I guarantee that it was just a f*ck up in the editing room.

All those who keep screaming conspiracy theories are just bored PS3 fanboys with nothing to do...

GO PLAY GTA IV!!

Yep, this is the most logical answer I think... I don't see anyone going out of their way for Grid as the game is not really somehting that will move consoles.

Why would physics be any different in a multiplatform game? They'd have to use an entirely different engine.

The same way CNET is owned by microsoft despite CNET being a publically owned and traded company with it's own stock.  Anything that you don't have to think too hard enough becomes flames in the fanboy war even if it doesn't make snese.

It's kinda like politics.
