Forums - General - Can we get rid of the other section 8

No. There is a perfectly good section 8 here, which I don't 100% agree with anyway, but decided to implement for the 20-30 of you who want to have somewhere a little more exclusive to talk.

Tell me the difference between this section 8 and your section 8.

(The difference is you weren´t snooping around our section 8... oh wait, thats right... you where...)

But seriouly the difference is that in our section 8 we get to chose who our friends are and who suppervises us... we just can´t get that here and it makes a big difference...

I hope you know your beating a dead horse. This argument will go around in circles.

There's really no difference, just look at this thread, epic, because we are having a mature conversation. Section 8, 9 or any forums relys soly on the the conversation and the people having it. As long as we can stay on topic, bring something into what's being discussed , i dont care who's part of it.

ioi I understand you, but I don't think that is the right way to get you information. It is like if we get a insider from the mod forum and decided to go there, that doesn't seem right. Also you still haven't reveal who gave you their username/password?

Firstly, you didn't impliment anything, a glitch was discovered where you could post in the Thread id=8 forum, that was called Section 8. You only implemented it, after you got word that there was an off-site Section 8, which you yourself said knew about from the start. So it wasn't so much about you implimenting it, but re-opening the glitch, to allow this to happen.

Back on topic:

The difference? It's not as easy to just look at someone's post history and join into the group, which, as I've said, can bring posters like leo-j here, completely making the need for having it, irrelevant.

There was quite a bit more to it than that... as you noticed although this forum doesn't appear in the forums section it does have an actual title, is limited in view by post count, and doesn't appear in post history.  None of which existed in the previous glitch.

Now, past that, your leo-j example is pretty bad since leo-j has been permanently banned.  The post count in itself is inherintly prohibitive, and the whole purpose of the code of conduct (which kenzo helped make I might add) was to keep higher standards of maturity in this section to avoid any problems with people stumbling in and acting dumb.

This conversation has successfully gone nowhere, I'm done arguing and wasting my precious time.

I think going in circles is the wrong analogy... I am putting out a valid argument and no one has yet to make a respond to it and explain what is wrong with it...

it wont stay 20-30 of us.  Having just a post count to keep some out is not a good measuement on how mature they are at all.   I could post 5k times and if it was all meaningless spam then I wouldnt of grown as a poster at all.  At our sec8 we already have as system to make sure they are good posters.  We also have a better sec8 than this one.  Our sec8 isnt just one forum but its own site with its own forums.  It is just flat our better.

wow pdf, that hurts. there was no need for that.

The difference is that our section 8 isn't a secret and isn't an elitist forum where we only invite certain people based on no criteria other than who we like. Can you not see how that is fundamentally wrong?

I told you a dozen times by now that going public though sigs was a terrible idea and I apologize for it... it was never supposed to be a sectet... we invited people based on the criteria of who the group likes... thats how frendships work... you like someone you have a good time with so you hang out with them... no I do not see whats fundamentally wrong with that...

i really dont want you guys gone from vgc, you guys are very good here, however, let find a way to bring this section on par with what you guys want, let's at least try. Now, give ioi your demands.

Okay, well let's back up to your 3 original problems ioi and see if we can resolve some of it.

1. 50 people on a forum is more than a friends group. ~10-15 I can handle, but anything more than that smacks of being competition to the main site and will inevitably take you guys away from posting on here. What happens when it gets to 100 or 200 or 500 members?

2. The minute all this stuff began about posting signatures on May the 8th, the secret codes, the hidden messages, you invaded vgchartz and made it my business. I don't understand it. If you genuinely want a private area where you can chat to others, why all this rubbish? Why not just go there and chat?

3. Upon then reading the threads in more detail I have become angry about what seems to be (and of course I could be wrong) the true purpose of the forum - see my quotes and my comments. I personally dislike people who think they are above others and I'm sorry but that is exactly how things come across to me. I'd love to be proven wrong.

#2 is fixed.  They agreed the sigs were a bad idea, and won't be doing that again.

Let's work on problem #1 and #3.  Would you agree to allow them to continue to exist if they closed down Section 8.1, and created a new forum with only 20 members, and no recruiting.  Say they gave you an account to allow you to check and make sure nothing was being done to recruit.  This could easily be argued as nothing but a close group of friends.  Is that possible ioi?
