Although I played some online games on the PS2 (I have the modem but only used it for Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3) I never considered I was being part of the online gaming community. Before this generation I didn't even get into MMORPGS while friends of mine were playing Tibia and other games like it. I didn't even play Counter Strike online! Played in some LAN parties and that's it. Now I have PS3 and can play online and I'm addicted to COD4 and also play Team Fortress 2 and will start playing GTAIV online very soon. I consider I jumped into online gaming this generation, it's just so good and easy to have everything ready right from the console in the moment you buy it!

 Who here started real online gaming this generation too??

I used to play Starcraft ~6 years before, after that, nothing drew my attention that much. Until now with Mario Kart Wii. A surprisingly robust on-line experience from Nintendo!

If you exclude a brief encounter with an MMORPG, then I started with Resistance. Now, I mostly play Warhawk online.

My first online game was Quake Deathmatch, I then graduated to CTF, Team Fortress, and spent a lot of my youth playing Starcraft, UT and Diablo II.

I kind of got away from the online gaming scene for a while and since then I haven't played very much at all.

I think I played Red alert a few times online, then nothing until I bought the PS3.

The first game I ever played online was Starcraft, and it is also the last game I have played online.

Not yet, because I'm living on campus where the wireless is weak and slow

But next holidays I'll be going nuts on Mario Kart and Brawl (if it's out in Australia by then)

I used to play Ragnarok Online until one year ago when I quit. I don't think I'm coming back to online gaming unless

1) I'm going online on Brawl (although from what I hear, it has a crappy implementation so that might be a hindrance)
2) I'm going to get Mario Kart Wii and go online on it.
3) I'm going to buy TF2, CoD4, or Spore for PC

My first online game was Doom 2, modem to modem style, with my friend down the street. We tied up our phone lines (before DSL allowed phone and internet at once) and pissed off our parents. I had to dial in his home phone number. We did this with WarCraft 2 as well. Good times.

I used my sega saturn to chat with teenage girls on chat rooms... I was a teenager at the time so it was perfectly ok! :)

Otherwise Dreamcast online was my first experience...
