 you have to remember that they pushed HOME back to focus on gaming and gaming elements in HOME.

Their business model is so outdated its not even funny... In the late 90's and beginning of the last gen it was all about who has most media functions and who is technically more advanced. It was a technical arms race.

However xbox showed everyone that you can be the most powerful console and still do quite well but lose shitload of money hence be a failure...

Ah ok now I get it, I plan to get a PS3 when they cost what a console should cost.

By the way it is is my real name and Sony stole it from me, I wish I lived in the US so I could sue them for stealing my name without permiossion.

 Because they overshot their expectations on home wanting it to be a lot more then just gaming. 

Had they not wanted to make it some amazing overreaching second life yet with more advertisments and other non game related BS it would likey be out by now. 

They realized "Hey we either can't do what we want too or it won't come out for a long time if we do try to implement it. Screw it, lets work on that game stuff we've hardly touched that we need for the core."

Actually Sony is competing with them, and losing.

I'm sure Apple will be happy to oblige them. They already crushed Sony in the music player business and are starting to cause big damage to their phone business.

I think the PS3 enables sony to compete in multiple markets , as it compliments other products it's Sony's portfolio.

But then I'd still argue that they are in competition with Microsoft's XBOX 360 but they have less to loose from selling less hardware than Microsoft because of the other benefits Sony experience from their console.

I don't really see the Wii and the PS3/360 as direct competitors , they compete to some extent but It only looks like the Wii is dominating both because the XBOX 360 is doing better this gen than it did last , I think people would be more ready to acknowlede this if the 360 flopped.
