Forums - Sony - Little Big Planet: Why the hype?

The best things about this game:

You create everything, if this part is really deep and full then I'm satisfied.
Create and play at the same time. This looks very fun.
Up to 4 people creating/playing at the same time.
The youtube like content sharing system.
If a devoted community builds around this game, it's infinite.

Secondary:

I like the way it looks, interesting style and clean/crisp looking environments.
The interface, first time I see a game with so many user creative options look so simple and fluid.
The use of physics.
The music, at least from the videos so far.

If this game delivers on most of its promise then it's one of the best games in PS3's future (if not the best). It will depend a lot on the game's community and developer support as well.

Now that GTA is out, this is only second to MGS 4 on my most anticipated PS3 games list, way ahead of bigger games like Resistance 2 or Killzone 2.

Because most casual games are simplified to appeal to the lowest common denominator, but LBP retains it's accessibilty while still incorporating a complex physics engine, puzzle-based gameplay and awesome aesthetics.
Ever heard of Lemmings??
That game is like a spiritual evolution of Lemmings.
A good look and better phisics doesn't change the very essence of the game.
Please, expand your explanation to me.
Why would a "core gamer" want this game?
No, actually this game is not the spiritual or any other sort of successor to Lemmings.  They both involve platforming and puzzles (in a very general sense) and that's about it AFAIK.

My advice to fanboys: Brag about stuff that's true, not about stuff that's false. Predict stuff that's likely, not stuff that's unlikely. You will be happier, and we will be happier.

Actually, I think the real question is:

"Why the so called hardcore gamers are interested in LBP???"

The way some users talk about casual games, just don't fit to the hype they made about LBP.

So a game where you spend hours creating a level shouldn't interest core players? Or is it that platformers (a genre that gamers were raised on) shouldn't interest said players? Lemme tell you about something I thought was very clear, the favorite game of the majority of core players on the Wii is Mario Galaxy. That sould answer your real question...

I'll quote a video game magazine...

"If Little Big Planet can't foster an online community, this do-it-yourself platformer will go down faster than a sinking ship"

Youtube this game isn't, we'll have to see how it goes.
