Forums - PC - WHAT IS THE BEST DUAL LAYER DVD MEDIA AND REWRITER COMBINATION

My Plextor 716A has problems with most Dual Layer media.  At best 5 discs fail in a box of 25, at worst 22 fail!

Any other media I burn in it is 100% succesfull.  Its a fairly old drive (with the latest firmware) in that it is one of the first to support dual layer burning so I am considering an upgrade, but is this the problem?

From what I have found dual layer media is a bit random with most drives, what works fine for some, for others its 100% failure.

 So whats the winning combination?

 Anyone got any ideas?

I am burning DVD videos, creating the structure on hard drive first.  I typically use Nero either the full program or the plugin through another program.  I have used other programs and still get the same problems.

Typical failures are at the lead-in or lead-out stages and sometimes after burning the first layer it will fail at the start of the second.

i would say verbatim dual layer with pioneer 212D or higher models would be a good combination...

Well my new Plextor PX-800 burns x2.4 RiDisc's at x8 everytime without fail!!

Verbatim is too expensive but like Taiyo Yuden its usually worth the money.
