Who here is buying MGS 4 despite not playing the first three games in the series and why?

I haven't played the other 3, but i'm looking forward to #4. Isn't the creator having trouble fitting the game onto 50gb dual layer blu-ray? Wow

MGS 4 is a game that you would not need to have played the other inferior graphic MGS games in the series. MGS 4 is a easy pick up and play action game that will have wide appeal to fans of the MGS series and to newbies to the MGS series.
MGS 4 on the PS3 will be a great game and in my opinion a better game than GTA IV.

Do you mean that playing the first 3 should incite you NOT to buy MGS4?? cause that is what I understood from your sentence....

Anyways: I played 1 liked it, I played 1/2 of 2 didn't pick it back up (break due to a PS2 break down...). didn't try 3.  But If I do get a PS3, I will buy MG4 (or 5 if there is one by then).

If people haven't played the previous MGS games, they won't get any enjoyment out of MGS4. The games are based VERY tightly on the story, with extremely long cutscenes.

I doubt you're trying to imply that the first MGS games sucked, but I can't think of what you actually mean.

Might wanna rethink the way you use the word 'despite'.

I think i will buy MGS4 without playing the other games, but will probably try and pick them up before-hand to know the story :D

Well I haven't played the first three games, I plan to, but even if I hadn't played them I would still buy MGS4. To start with it looks very very good and it's obvious a lot of effort has gone into this game. And I'm prettty sure, if I remember correctly, MGS4 will have flashbacks using original game footage from previous games to to explain the story, correct?

I care little about the story of the game all I care for is an action packed game with excellent graphics.
