Nintendo has many many other franchises to work on, and they also create about 2 or 3 new ones per generation ( though it seems Wii will increase substantialy that number), so they jus can´t make more than 1 or 2 Mario games per console. Other companies, like Insomniac and Naught Dog, focused only in making Ratchet n Clank games, or Jak and Daxter games. If one of Nintendos studios focused only on Mario adventures, we would probably get more of them, but it doesn´t.
