Forums - Gaming - quick question about HDMI cables

no there is a difference in profile 1.3 and 1.0 spec's

1.3 has higher bandwidth that some of the cheaper cables will NOT handle.

it is not a myth of monster cable, just look up the specs.

what IS a myth of monster cables is that their cables are superior in any way vs the less expensive brands.

a 100 dollar hdmi cable from monster will display on screen exactly like a 10dollar hdmi cable from monoprice/bjc/anyone else

also some of the cheaper cables have crappy connectors- which is usually the problem with the cables, i buy not the cheapest, but the medium grade cables (~10-20 bucks) that

hdmi 1.0 : Single-cable digital audio/video connection with a maximum bitrate of 4.9 Gbit/s.

hdmi 1.3 : Increases single-link bandwidth to 340 MHz (10.2 Gbit/s)

while a 1.0 cable MIGHT be able to handle 10.2Gbit/s it may not since they are only RATED to 4.9Gbit/s

a 1.3 rated Cable WILL handle 10.2 Gbit/s handily.

almost ALL cables on sale now are 1.3 spec.

Around the Network

Almost every HDMI cables made in the past few years are category 2 cables. ALL category 2 cables can support HDMI 1.3 and most category 1 cables can pass category 2 spec at short length (under 3 meters/9 feet).

This is correct, based on everything I've heard.

almost ALL cables on sale now are 1.3 spec.

This I'm not so sure about. At the places I've looked, you've still got to hunt around a bit and pay extra for a 1.3 cable.
