Forums - Gaming - I don't think I like Nintendo anymore....this is sad....

Why do people always say the Gamecube is lacking in quality titles. I find it has the most.

yeah, but the Wii is getting a higher percentage of crap than the PS2 did. We just had thread about that. Also, the Wii is getting a lower number of great games. Still, it's not all bad.

Do you have any real proof??? (Like how many crap games are on the Wii at this point, vs the number of crap games of the PS2 at the same point)...

And about the good games, almost everybody jumped to the PS2 in the very beggining, how many had jumped to the Wii??? Most of the devs are busy with games announced before the succes of the Wii...

Did you really ask for proof. Anything not Wii Sport, Metroid 3, SMG, SSBB, TP, Wii Fit, Wii Play, and Mario Kart are mediocre to crap. You can try and add some other good games, but that is all I can think of. (Mario Party 8,9, 54 are not that great)

When i started playing videogames around 1995, i got a Gameboy Pocket and i loved it. The next year, I got a N64(which is my favorite console of all time) and enjoyed the wide range of games, and great games for kids that even adults can't help but enjoy. The Gamecube came out and I wasn't impressed with the range of games. I thought that it was just a bad generation so I waited for the next generation in hopes for a better range of games. The Wii came out and i have to admit that it is incredibly fun to use the motion sensors...for about a month. I still enjoyed the motion sensors but it wasn't INCREDIBLE to me. They have some great games like SSBB, SMG, TP, but some games that sold over a million really just blow my mind like that Carnival game...I'm sure its fun, but come on!!! They are commited to these more childlike games than people my age(17) and above. I doubt they are going to go back to making satisfying shooter games(Metroid Prime is ok, but it comes out once like every 3 years and i am not going to wait that long). So saying all this, I think that Nintendo is not for me.

Keep in mind that a lot of the posters above are old and don't understand being young like us anymore it seems.  Most of my friends have 360s and prefer them to the Wii because it has more "mature" games.  And that's okay.  It's not a sin to not like quite a bit of the Wii's library and maybe prefer another console's lineup.

If the Wii isn't doing it for you, look into getting a PS360 or maybe upgrading your PC for gaming to go along with it.

The advantage (one of the few) of being ancient is that, unlike youths who can only presume to understand the way their elders see the world, we well remember what it was like to be an adolesent too concerned with what looking mature than actually understanding what it means to be mature.

Realistically, the one demographic where Nintendo has little or no chance of being successful with the Wii is the 13 to 21 year old male demographic ... This demographic is the most obsessed with both "Mature" content (Drugs, Sex, Violence, Crime and Profanity) as well as meaningless techical performance (computer hardware, sports cars, etc.). While Nintendo has (essentially) abandoned these gamers in favour of the general market, Sony and Microsoft have abandoned the general market in order to attract these gamers.

The original poster fits right into this demographic, and it is not surprising that he doesn't like Nintendo anymore. I expect that he will age, go to college, get a job and a steady girlfriend and his perception of Nintendo will (likely) change when he is in his early to mid 20s.

This is the sillyest thing I've read in a while. You are categorizing all gamers that prefer ps360 as immature late teen early 20's gamers.

Thats like me saying that all Wii's are purchased by the late 30's/early 40's people and used to entertain guests as its good social fun. And by 9 to 12 year old kids who like teletubby's and saying the words "Wii".

Also about your technical performance analogy...if one can afford a powerful sports car, there is no reason why they'd drive anything else. Most people settle for a ford focus not cause they want to... i'm not saying that Wii is only bought by people who can't afford ps360 but I don't think there is such thing as meanigless technical performance. Otherwise we'd all be stuck in a sea of mediocrity. If you can't see what techncial performance brings to gaming with games like GTA4...then I don't know what else I can say.

Maybe its 'silly' because your reading comprehension is very limited ... I never once suggested that PS3 or Xbox 360 fans were all teenagers! I suggested that teenage boys were far more likely to be fans of the PS3 or XBox 360 (or more appropriately less likely to be fans of the Wii) which is supported by the demographic information which has been gathered for each of the systems; it is also (generally) true that the activities that teenagers see as being immature become more acceptable in their 20's, and the activities they used to see as being Mature become far less acceptable.

Beyond that, I can afford a powerful sports care but don't own one because it is completely impractical and it doesn't suit my needs at all. People quite often choose their ecconomical vehicle because it is a better fit for their lifestyle not because it is the only car they can afford.

I can't see a dude in his late 20's early 30's thats a gamer coming home from an exhausting day at work and turning on a wii and having mario jump around while yelling "whoopie!". I'd go postal myself... I personally need to unwind by blowing off some steam while blowing off some heads.

As a person that's been a Nintendo go from his mid 20s to late 30s, you don't know what you're talking about. Sounds more to me that this is a personal issue, and maybe you could use some theraputic medication.

In addition to what we have in O-D-C's list I would add Okami, Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, House of the Dead 2 & 3, Excite Truck, Wario Ware: Smooth Moves, Big Brain Acadamy: Wii Degree, Guitar Hero 3, Mario and Sonic at the Olympics, Rayman Raving Rabbids, Rayman Raving Rabbids 2, Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga, Super Paper Mario, and Link's Crossbow Training. Thanks for playing though.

ssj12, have you played NMH? It's very mature, full of satire, blood (If it's the US Version), not to mention terrific gameplay... And it's not an FPS or RPG, and it's not made by Nintendo.

thats one game, and i know RE4 and a few others are on the console. What he is meaning there is an extreme lack of content that the other consoles have had. He probably owns NMHs but his point remains the same. There is a lacking of titles for different genres most gamers like. And the WiiWare FF title is not the RPG he is meaning. He wants a full blown story with love, romance, etc, like RPGs have.

The wii is following the path of the ds. The ds is the hanheld that takes main series from consoles(DQ). Vgchartz has 79 rpgs listed, and I believe thats out of 600 games. Thats almost 1/6 of the ds' games. Now the ds gets FF remakes, and Dragon Quest main series games , because it does the best in japan. Do you know how the 3rd party support on the ds started out as? Casual games, Shovelware, etc.( Same as the wii) After they saw how well it was selling, now look at the 3rd party support. Look at the games of 2008 thread. We are already seeing the start of the 3rd party support on the wii the same as the ds. Do you know what games the wii WILL get rpgs. It won't get Final Fantasy, but it will get rpgs that are better if the declination of the quality of FInal fantasy games continues. My level of hype for Chrystal Crystal bearers is starting to rival that of FFXIII just because of the trailer and how well the ds game was. Now the wii might not get the shooters, but it will get enough shooters. It won't be the platform with 1,00s of generic fps'.

@ Op here are 4 rpgs you should look into if you want what SSJ12 says you do. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The crystal bearers, Tales of Symphonia, and Fragile, Fire Emblem( THis is already out). I could recommend others, but those are the only ones where I believe there is going to be depth in the story.

I Already SAID that the Wii is like the DS... Look on the 1st page and look for "OMG It has UB3R C00L GRAFFIX P0W3R"

LOl calm down. I was just confirming it, and at the time I didn't see your post.

Well, I don't need to calm down, I just wanted to point that out... I expected sum1 to laugh... and I guess I got it...

I'm 25 and I actually say "whoopee!" when I do a jump or a flip.

I know, it's kind of addicting. All of Last November I was making Mario sounds randomly and when I was playing. XD

HappySqurriel, I´m sad you don´t seem to enjoy sports cars

All kidding aside, I´ve finally put together the $$$ to get a 2000 Ferrari 360 Modena, and as long as the road conditions are good (since the height of the car is so low), I don´t find it impractical at all...I´ll even make it my daily car, which is a bit unusual for a car such as this, but it´s ok.
You're not concerned about gas mileage?  And if you live in a snowy state I presume you will not be driving it in winter!
