Forums - Sony - FFVII Director On Chances Of A Remake

It's coming to the DS

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

FFVII can only go to Playstation formats because FFVII rights are owned Square and Sony, which Sony would never let Nintendo or Microsoft have the game.

Why would it go to DS? The entire point of a remake is for the graphics, and the DS isn't much more powerful than the PS1. The game would essentially be the exact same, except they'd have to throw in stylus controls for a game that was not designed for them.

The n64 was about 3 times more powerful than the ps1. The ds is even more powerful than the n64, and it uses less of the power due to being at a lower resolution. If you look at games like FFIV ds you could see the graphical difference to FFVII. Oh and your statement about graphics being the only thing that it would gain there , is controls, portability, and the whole point in making a game is to make money especially remakes.

Sorry already posted, and the cross-topic post was weird...

I could have swore this was posted earlier but I couldn't find the thread. Can you please post the link and I'll lock this one?

Somebody at SE said something very similar way back in 2007, but the article in the OP concerns a new interview from this past week.

OT: I'd buy it. I've never played Final Fantasy VII, and this would give me the perfect opportunity to do so. :)

One of the many reasons I wouldn't want a remake made.

???

A remake could never capture everything that the original was and everything that it ment for gaming and true rpg fans at that time. I'd just hate to see the new generation of gamers playing a fan servicy, money milking remake to see what all the fuss was about.

@iron megalith: I was being sarcastic while responding to the post above mine. It is more than obvious what console the remake would be on. It was a stupid question. Besides look at my game collection and you'll notice that I have nothing to do with the xbox brand.

But the FANS want it for graphics. And they'll be the ones making up the majority of sales. Also, like I said, "they'd have to throw in stylus controls for a game that was not designed for them."

This isn't like FFIV SNES to FFIV DS, where the entire game was completely remade for 3D, thus making control changes necessary. FFIV was completely redisgned to take into account thethe stylus. FFVII fans, from what I've seen, essentially just want their favorite game remade with high level production values (awesome graphics, better voice acting, etc.).  Something like this.

I have a feeling it's already in development and will be revealed at E3 2009 just after the release of FFXIII.
Also, FF7 was published by Sony so it would definately be on PS3 and only the PS3!

The only thing that I like about the idea that there will be a FFVII remake is the possibility of a remake of the other PS ONe FF games.
