Forums - Sony - FFVII Director On Chances Of A Remake

I've read this exact response before in an interview months earlier. The remake question is so persistent that he's actually trained to repeat this now.

Considering how much of SE's work today consists of cash-ins and remakes, you'd think a FFVII remake would be their #1 priority, given the massive amount of fan requests.

I could see a remake outselling the original, because fans of the series would most certainly buy it, and guys like me would get it just to see what all the hype's about.  It could be SE's highest selling game ever.

Double post.  >_>

I hope this doesn't happen cuz I like how my original FF7 is going up in value as tie goes by

What are you looking at, nerd?

Sorry already posted, and the cross-topic post was weird...

I could have swore this was posted earlier but I couldn't find the thread. Can you please post the link and I'll lock this one?

Somebody at SE said something very similar way back in 2007, but the article in the OP concerns a new interview from this past week.

OT: I'd buy it. I've never played Final Fantasy VII, and this would give me the perfect opportunity to do so. :)

One of the many reasons I wouldn't want a remake made.

But what console would it be for?

360 of course! I couldn't imagine it on any other.

Either Wii or ps3, but I'd say ps3. Based on the two tech demoes (E305 and the one at the end of CCFFVII on the PSP), and the way most FFVII fans seem to want a remake just to see their favorite game realized with stunning visuals, the ps3 seems like it'd be the perfect fit. The Wii would only make sense if SE was aiming to completely redo the controls, which seems unlikely.

That being said, the Wii isn't completely out of the question. I mean, the thing has triple the ps3's install base in Japan, and more than double worldwide. Of course, a FFVII remake would sell 8+ million regardless of platform, so I don't think they'd be too worried about making a nice profit. :P

And if it did come to the ps3, it would sure help it out in Japan. ^^

The same could have been said about the DS during FF7 CC was being made for the psp.

Good point.  Though the install disparity between the ps3 and Wii will be much larger than the disparity between the PSP and DS's install bases ever was.
