Forums - General - Anyone here dislike, cannot stand anime?

I was just wondering.  My roomates constantly play JRPGs with their standard constant looping of soundtracks.  And the cute dolls, feminine guys, money spent on room clutter that makes it seem like you are 5 again.  AHHH!  Anyone agree or do I just think outside of a Japanese box? :) Thoughts?

GAH! BLASPHEMY!! lol, jk.

I love anime but it doesn't rule my life. I love the stories and action and suspense. Perhaps your friends are just too involved?

I have 50 Gundam Models, about 40 mangas, and about 18 complete animes. I like it, I just dont have the plushies or anything, thats just kinda lame to have for a guy

I think it's creepy myself, he does have saber though so kudos to him ^_^ , but I think he has gone way overboard.
And this is coming from a guy who enjoys JRPG and Anime.

I like anime for the same reasons luinil does.

I think you're just trying to be different from your roommates because, quite frankly, you find them nerdy(?)
You posted none of your experiences about anime and why you wouldn't like it.
The only reason you have for not liking anime is because your friends showed you a very nerdy(creepy?) side of it, and it probably turned you off..

I'm with you, OP.

And I'm half Japanese.

i hate 99% of anime, but i LOVE all the studio ghibli films and osamu tezuka's metropolis, everything else is crap imo.

I'm just fine with the form of Anime. I like that unlike in the west, Japan considers animation to be perfectly valid story telling medium, and subsequently treats it with a level of artistry we seldom see.

It's the content that makes or breaks it for me. Millennium Actress was a beautiful and thought provoking story of lost love told with an outstanding visual flare.

School girls in short skirts screaming and crying about wearing the wrong colour of makeup while muscle dudes with triangle hair shoot giant balls of the colour green at eachother... I'll pass on that.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

My rationale exactly stof.  Although I did like Pokemon games and cartoons when I was around 9-12.  I'm 19 now btw ahh, good times, good times, LOL.  Crap I hate net slang.  Correcting self Laugh out Loud spelling out like the old geezer I am.  :)

No, anime shits on Western cartoons in most cases as they take it more seriously, and because of that there is a larger pool of voice acting talent.
