Forums - Sony - Anyone planning to buy PS3 bundled with MGS4?

I really am tempted to buy PS3 bundled with MGS4.

Only one problem though is that was I hoping to purchase the 40G for $399, but sony doesn't offer one for 40G - I don't think.

At my local Gamestop they are advertising 80G and 40G will not be bundled.

Still contemplating but this makes a difference.

does this make a difference to you?

My Roomates picking up the bundle, but he WANTS the backwards compatibility and extra's (hard drive, 4 usb slots, card readers). I would personally go for the 80 as well. I just like the bells and whistles :D

Yeah, for $100 more you get a bigger HD, PS2 emulation, 2 USB ports and MGS4... this means the 40G+2USB+PS2 are about $40. Totally worth it

Optimistic predictions for 2008 (Feb 5 2008): Wii = 20M, PS3 = 14M, X360 = 9.5M

My brother wants a PS3 for himself, so we may end up getting the bundle because we planned on buying the game anyways.

I will definitly buy a PS3 when MGS4 comes out but I hope the bundle will have a dualshock 3 instead of a sixaxis in Europe...

I'm considering picking it up, though what I'd like is the 80GB PS3 (CELL & RSX = 65nm tech) with it's backwards compatibility, but in Australia we will most likely be getting the 40GB PS3 bundle, which if at least it comes with CELL & RSX at 65nm tech, then I'll pick it up, and if it doesn't then I'll wait for the model that does, yes I know I'm picky but that's the tech I want under the hood :)

this is making me think a little. I thought 40G and 80G were pretty much the same except for the HDD.

The employee, who love PS3, told me they were the same and that 80G still didn't play many of the PS2 games.
I'm guessing now that he doesn't know what he's talking about.

Yeah, he doesn't.  I think the compatibility rate for PS2 games is in the 70-85% range.  The hardware is definitely still the older tech too, but that may change sooner or later.  Maybe by Fall.

Wait. I need more info. here.
the 80G SKU is the same one they had last year? Or is it new?
What is the difference between the old tech and new tech?
