if you guys are hating on GTA4 right now, wait until you hear about its sales figures. And seriously, imagine if it was annouced for the wii, just imagine it for one second.

yeah I think their is definitely a bias from the reviewers, from my personal tastes I would have ranked the game high but not that high, maybe there are also alot of people who see a perfect score of 10 as a magic number that every one tries to obtain but is never really suposed to. Like a 10 is a perfect product but every one knows there is no such thing a perfect product and any flaw should a least drop it a few points to at least a 9.8 or a 9.9. And as GTA is a specialised game for a specialised genre, one that alot of reviewers would be big fans of then that would leave the big fans or mario and zelda games feeling as though their games were perfect for them and deserving of perfect scores.

Good one.

But GTAIV lends itself perfectly for this sort of theory more thatn any other title.  First, it is HD multiplatform, thus combines the two "anti-wii" camps.  And second it is probably a great game so inflating the scores just a bit doesn't seem obvious.

Of course, like I said it is very unlikely that such actual conspiracy is going on, at best it is just a "subconcious thing" happening.

And another thing, just because a game scores so well doesnt mean its gonna sell on par to its score. There was a news article on here or on ign a few weeks ago, I really cant remember where, but it showed the top scoring games with their sales figures and a 10/10 game doesnt actually mean its going to be the most popular, their could still be alot of hype for this game that isnt translating into sales. But thats just one side of the coin that should be considered, it could very well outsell wii sports hehehe but I doubt it :p

Sorry, but I am almost sure you are wrong. The reviewers that made Nintendo's scores the best of all time are giving this 10/10.

There is no conspiracy, a good game is getting good rep which it rightly deserves.
It doesn't have the best graphics, but come on! the city makes up for that in itself, it's just too detailed.
But yeh... GTA is doing well because that game generally kicks some serious ass.
It might not be everyones cup of tea but this game is hell a lot of fun.

And for those who think it isn't revolutionary, i'm sorry, what isn't revolutionary about it. Nothing on this scale has been seen on a video game console before, it terms of sheer detail and technical prowess.

there's nothing wrong with the wii, but nintendo's decision to skip HD quality is going to turn some devs away. also a large portion of people who buy the wii are not long time gamers. families are buying it for the party game aspect.

hardcore games just don't sell well on the wii and devs are very aware of this, therefore putting a game like that on the wii is a financial risk. 

Well according to the theory if GTAIV were to come out for the Wii the scores would suddentlly go down.

Seriously, would GTAIV score 10s if it were graphically downsized but the controls were increasingly better on the wii?

 i disagree, "the greatest game of all time" would sell pretty well on the wii. And yes, that's how i will call gta4 from now on.
