point is there are dozoens of NATIVE 1080p games on PS3 there are like 3 on xbox.... Halo 3 is microsofts BIGGEST GAME. if bungie could NOT do it on a game the size of halo then i can NOT be done.......

The issue here is not "can the ps3 do it" its "why didnt rockstar do it".... the issuse with halo is "it can NOT be done"

Thats is why it does not make a difference. A 3rd party game vs THE NUMBER ONE exculsive game on the planet........ if i had to put money down id think halo would be in 1080p not GTA4... a 3rd parties 1st next gen game on ps3 and its on 2 different systems vs and second party game on one system that had a budget of only god knows what.......

NJ5 you dont see the point so i had to spell it out for you...

I perfectly see that, but the hipocrisy is still visible and true from some people.

By the way, what are those dozens of 1080p native PS3 games? Let's filter out the ones with framerate problems and/or simple graphics, and see what remains. I just did a quick search and it seems to me that some of PS3's best games in terms of graphics (Uncharted and R&C) are 720p.

In Halo's defense, the developers were trying to be able to cram as much stuff on the screen at once with particle effects and motion and open spaces while keep the framerate up and having strong A.I. and 4-player co-op and all this other stuff.  If you look at 1080p games, and you really look at how much stuff is on the screen at one time and what the other demands on the graphics are, you'll see that there's so much less going on in most of them.

Developers don't have the time or money (or hardware/software capacity in some cases) to have 1080p, tons of cool sound, co-op, strong A.I., effects, fully realized cutscenes and voice, etc. etc. etc.  While we would love for them all to spend a hundred million for each title and be done in 6 weeks with no bugs and no flaws, it's just not practical.

If the only reason you were buying Halo 3 on 360 or GTA IV on PS3 is to look at 720p, (or 1080p) then I feel bad for you.  It's about more than just resolution.

Can't we all just get along and play our games in peace?

This thread is awesome. The true winner here is Nintendo.

I'm so glad I spent all night playing GTA single player and multiplayer with friends.

The car driving is so much different then before but an absolute blast. I just wish there was a theater mode to capture some of these insane moments in the game.

I wasn't the biggest GTA fan before this but the game is awesome. The multiplayer is absolutely nuts. Cops and Crooks, Mafya, etc.

So much more enjoyable playing this awesome game then arguing over (what every reviewer has said are negligable differences) the game on an internet forum.

I have both systems, I bought the 360 and haven't noticed any pop-in problems that I'm sure are grossly exaggerated. Maybe they are they there. All I know is they didn't stand out so I can assume aren't as big as fanboys from each side are trying to convince themselves that they are.

I just did a quick search and it seems to me that some of PS3's best games in terms of graphics (Uncharted and R&C) are 720p.

I agree those are maybe the best looking console games so far (for both PS3/360), but they haven't fully adapted their game engines for the PS3 yet.

Gran Turismo 5: Prologue (cars look amazing, realtime replays are like watching movies) and Super Stardust HD (insane amount of high speed activity and effects) in 1080p are very impressive.

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

Using Super Stardust HD as the pinacle of PS3's graphics after a year and a half after its launch is SAD!!

Its not a compliment in any way and makes me laugh everytime you use it as an the example

Eh, your acting as if hypocricy is a new thing around here.

It happens a lot and just happens with PS3 fanboys more because they don't have to change their arguement as much as the Wii fanboys and their aren't as many 360 fanboys.

Higher pixels is all the PS3 had going for back when the PS3 had no exclusive games worth playing and it's multiplatform games were worse. (Well and blu-ray.)

Now that it's turned on it's side for a game suddenly that doesn't matter.

Much like the "Wii doesn't sell games" "Wii doesn't sell third party games" "Wii doesn't sell third party games in Japan" sliding arguement

or demand that Wii gets RE5 yet likely complained when PS2 got RE4.

If you need an example of Xbox fanboy hypocricy... just use their press releases and there constant changing of what "really matters".

The numbers really don't matter if you ask me, all that matters is how cool the game looks to you. To me no game this generation looks cooler then No More Heroes. With GT5P being a close second, but in reality No More Heroes is just a more appealing artstyle to me. It's also very poorly done technology wise.

I would still say to this day that the SNES and Genesis still look better then just about any PS1 game and 70% of N64 games. (Really still do think they went full 3-D one gen too early.)

Worst part, is that I STILL think it looks better than any 360 downloadable game xD And from a graphical standpoint, it's SADLY still impressive xD.

GT5p still isn't 1080p, Mike.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

I believe it's 1280 by 1080 or something similar and just stretched out to 1920x1080 (True 1080p)
