that was pretty weak considering how he clearly debunked your entire argument, is that the best you've got?

Haha, I'm sure I could find some more, but given you didn't engage with the argument at all, I think we'll save it for later.

OF course, if you have any constructive criticism, I'll be happy to talk about it

Oh an Sailordude?  Just because I'm Australian and need to go to sleep at different intervals than the rest of this site's members, doesn't mean I'm "ignoring a thread I've been bitchslapped in."  But thanks for contributing

You are seriously now attacking the PS3's online stability, too? The PS3 is generally better because of dedicated servers for most games. There's no reason to assume that the 360 version is smoother. I saw you slip that in there. Achievements do not a better game make, btw, and that situation is going to be fixed anyway on PS3. The fact is the game is better on PS3 and you won't accept it. Hey, I was surprised, too, since the PS3 was blamed for delays, but seriously...just get over it and move on.

Actually, most PS3 games do not use dedicated servers.  They do have peer matching services.  Sony 1st party games sometimes have dedicated servers, like Warhawk, but most multiplayer games are actually peer to peer.  GTA4 will most likely be the same.

Thank god for the disable signatures option.

starcraft, you have not posted back at the half dozen GTA threads that you got pwned at. dont say you have to sleep, you know you post more than anyone on this forum! i understand completely, the truth hurts.

They got the same score. Who cares, this site is about sales. Lets wait and see which one sells more. Its going to be an exciting week.

Lol. You still haven't acknowledged a thing I've said in this thread.  Whenever I raise a point you don't like, rather than try to justifiably deny it, you attack me in the hope people reading the thread will overlook my posts.

And as for posting more than anyone else on this forum?  Check my daily post count on my profile.

And your absolutely right, my last absense wasn't sleep-related, I had work.  Some people have stuff in their lives outside of VGC.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

Seeing how I am biased towards sony in this generation I have to say the 360 version gives it a run for its money. I am a downloadable content whore. I want those downloads however what ruins it for me is the 360 controller. IMO it's a crappy controller, the dualshock series is my favorite controller. Although the less popup is a nice thing it doesn't sway me to much. Still nabbing it for the ps3 simply because of the controller.

CURRENTLY PLAYING:  Warframe, Witcher 2

Before the review my friend had 2 copies of GTAIV reserved (1 of each version)
and we both have both the 360 and PS3.

Our plan was to more or less share them so we have the advantages of each system.

But since the review came out we have since changed the 360 pre order to a PS3 version as well.

Until the DLC (who knows what that will be) comes out months from now, me and my friend (and our other PS3 friends) will be enjoying the best possible GTA experience (even if it is by a very small margin graphically) on the PS3.

I cant wait for the multiplayer.

If the DLC is amazing I might trade it in, in the future.

But until then... Viva la PS3!

Oh and I saw the first PS3 only GTAIV commercial today on TNT. It was about 1 min long and I cranked the volume up when it came on.... Very cool commercial.

I can't wait until Monday night (or Tuesday morning) at Midnight.

̶3̶R̶D̶   2ND! Place has never been so sweet.

does anyone know if the ps3 version has region locked multiplayer?

Twelve year old?

What you've done, is signed up to a website and immediately joined a couple of threads where, rather than simply calmly engaging the issues, you've repeatedely thrown around the word fanboy, as though you apparently feel your arguments cannot stand on their own without first attempting to discredit those you argue with.

Oh really. I have, huh? Well, I guess your level of awareness on that is about par for the course. I think you're confusing yourself with me. I actually haven't used the word "fanboy" a single time on this site except here in this thread, and then only in reference to one person: you.

The only reason I did that is I've read multiple threads where you pop up, and in any one in which the PS3 is mentioned, there you seem to be, waving the Microsoft flag from the hilltops and browbeating other posters, while flippantly labeling those who disagree with you "PS3 fanboys Lol." Simply put, 75% of the time I see a starcraft post, you're acting like a jackass in it, and I decided to say something.

And I believe I've calmly engaged the issues at all points in other threads except where you decided to hop in and inform me I have no clue what I'm talking about even though it's beyond obvious you didn't know jack about the topic. You somehow saw a post that had nothing to do with the Xbox 360 aside from a mention that Microsoft would likely try to cut the price another $50 this year and was otherwise discussing the progress of the Cell and RSX as a threat to your mean green machine and felt compelled to attack my credibility. Not only that, but it was a PS3 discussion; why were you even in there trolling?

Don't think I'm brand new because I just signed up; I've been lurking here since last July. I only finally signed up because there have been several interesting technical discussions lately and I felt like having the ability to drop into some of them. I have both a PS3 and a 360, and no dog in the console war aside from interest in how the competitors are handling themselves since this is the closest a console war has been in over 15 years. Only reason I'm in this particular thread was info was being posted about the pros and cons of the different versions, and I haven't yet decided which system to grab GTA IV for yet. So not only is your assertion that I'm somehow running around calling people fanboys to support weak arguments an outright lie, but completely nonsensical as I have no reason to do so unless that's how they're behaving.

Got it? Good. We're done here, and I think I've gotten all the useful info that's going to be had from this topic, so I'm also done here. See you around the site.

Oh my god... I can't believe how PS3 biased these forums are. How can people really make such a big deal of these minor differences between the two versions. I don't mind if PS3 have a little less pop-ups or better aliasing. 360 have already had almost every multiplatform game performing better than PS3, so I'm kinda happy for you guys (PS3 owners) for not getting screwed again.

And 360 version has achievements, and upcoming DLC, so we could say it's the version worth getting in long run. See, we got some advantages also.

Let's wait for the sales (which this site is for) and see 360 version crushing PS3 version. ;)

I don't bother listing my last-gen games (PS2, Xbox, GC) to my collection cause there's too many of them. ;)

@ Saddler

It's an important title. Although the PS3 received weak 360 (one multi-platform developer acknowledged their games were quick & dirty) ports in the past (often very minor things apart from a very few titles), the later more demanding multi-platform games have been about on par. This is currently the most hardware demanding multi-platform game and despite development being lead on the 360 for this game the PS3 version is technically better.

Rockstar stated they feel they haven't really "cracked it" yet on the PS3 hardware, although they are now comfortable with the platform, so this is IMO a good indication of what's to come. Once they "cracked it" there should be room for huge improvements with regard to their game engine on the PS3 and they hinted DVD is not enough for their future games and that a default harddrive is really important to them.

(I think "cracked it" refers to game engine redesign, moving legacy parts currently running on the PPU to the SPUs)

Personally I think GTA V development will be lead on the PS3 and may not be ported to the 360 due to technical limitations.

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."
