The Closure Comes After A Disappointing Release
Douze Dixièmes released MIO: Memories in Orbit in Janauary. And while it received positive reviews critically, the game failed to meet expectations on a commerical level. After the game’s launch, publisher Focus Entertainment ended it’s relationship with the developer, leaving the small studio looking towards what’s next.
According to French journalist Gauthier Andres, the co-founders of Douze Dixièmes bought back its shares from Focus. This allowed them to shut down the studio and lay off staf on their own terms, rather than by a studio.
Founded in 2017, Douze Dixièmes released its first game, Shady Part of Me, in 2020. In 2021, it was acquired by Focus Entertainment.
At the time, Focus said it was bringing in the studio to show its “ambition to create a strong Group, but also illustrates Focus’s desire to support the French video game scene, a major focus of our editorial strategy.”
According to latest public numbers, Douze Dixièmes had 10 employees.
