Forums - Gaming - After 3 days people are modding Silksong to make it easier.

I always played SimCity 4 filled to the brim with mods. Making everything free, tons and tons of extra buildings and infrastructure, even esthetic things like snow on mountains. I’ve played like that for thousands of hours. You’re not telling me I actually didn’t play SimCity 4. I agree with pretty much everyone that this thread makes little sense.

I think it's fine.

Especially if they are priced into the experience. Despite this game being very cheap, if it's either $20 down the drain, or $20 they get enjoyment out of, then the latter is the way to go.

I entirely disagree with how you're framing things in this discussion but for the sake of this comment I'll work inside that framing. One of your main points in this thread is that Silksong and modded Silksong are Different Games™. One of your other main points is that if people don't like Silksong they should go play a different game instead. By your own metric isn't that exactly what people are doing? They don't like how Silksong plays so they're instead playing a different game, that game being modded Silksong.

If you're gonna debate Hot Takes with people you should at least try to make those takes internally consistent.

Haha ouch. You got me. Serious props to you for meeting me on my terms.

I'll drop the saying that people should play a different game.

Again, its up to people to choose what they play.

Maybe they like art style of Silksong and want to play it for that but they dont want to spend hours going through same part of the game over and over. Why is it so hard to understand that?

People play games for different reason. You like hard games, and that is fine, other, like me, like art style, and that is our main criteria when it comes to enjoyment of the game. I dont care about cutting edge graphic or how hard game is. IF i art style is great then that is all that matter.

If people using mods to make game easier somehow ruining your enjoyment of the game then maybe you should just stop visiting web sites and videos related to games.

I think the game is great as is and I don't know why somebody would want to change it. The difficulty is just right to force me to learn patterns and improve my gameplay without being too frustrating.
But it also doesn't particularly bother me if people choose to alter it. If they miss out on what's good, then that's on them.

I bet it as a journalist who did it. Or paid someone to do it.

I never use mods because I want the authentic experience as intended, but it does not bother me if other people use mods.
Having said that, people crying all over the internet about how hard Silksong is, is kind of funny. I think it's valid to say that not all games are for everybody, just like sports or other hobbies in general.

I believe I might be on the same field as you. I really don't mind people use mods for it, or whatever mod they want to use. But I like to have a curated experience by the developer and for some games the difficulty is part of the experience and it helps create a shared community/experience. If people want mods to breeze through the game, or hacks or whatever than I am ok with it. As long as the developer do not cave in and add an easy mode just because some people want to.
