I just finished the campaign last night. Pretty short lol. It was only like 2-3 hours in length I'd say, yet still really enjoyable. But I LOVE the new myth units, especially the dragons! They did such a fantastic job on the animations.

$20 to buy the expansion standalone is some BS though lol. Good thing I got the premium edition. I'm hoping the second expansion will be dedicated to Japanese mythology!

Ah nice. Japanese would be great but I am guessing Indian is next. It seems most people don't get into multiplayer for Mythology, which is fine, but it is really fun still. Frustrating at times I can understand. I definitely feel like customs would be much safer this weekend due to the new gods.

Lol yeah I honestly don't get into multiplayer. I definitely do for the mainline Age games, but for Mythology, you really got put some time to master your strategy. I tried playing several online matches and there were times where I had a beat on my opponents, only for them to have a devastating god power that completely ruined everything. I love playing some co-op skirmishes in Mythology, but I'll probably keep it at that.

CRPGs...but honestly, that is very...fluid.

I've been playing them for the most of my gaming life (so since early 80s), but I wasn't at the first that much into them. Then at second half of 80s I started plying D&D at the table and that was turning point for me - from that point on whenever I'm playing or DM-ing some TTRPG, I'm not playing CRPGs, since I find TTRPGs to be superior experience. But when I don't have anything going on at the table, I tend to go back to CRPGs. So I guess they are surrogate for the real thing for me, no matter how much I like some of them, and why when I have something going at the table I gravitate toward action-adventures and action-RPGs.

You were the only other person I could think of to inform. In case you didn't know, somehow, Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition by Beamdog just got a brand new expansion last month called "Doom of Icewind Dale" and it's actually supposed to be a direct story continuation of NN. I just picked it up for $7.50 to complete my NN collection bundle, and I'm looking forward to checking it out! Loving that those games are still getting some support.

Although this does remind me of the sting knowing we'll never get Icewind Dale II: Enhanced Edition due to the source code being lost

Here's the Steam link in case you're interested.

Thanks man, I'll check it out. I have to be honest, NN was bit of a disappointment for me back then, I was really excited for 3e ruleset and full 3D representation when it was announced, but actual released game, while I liked it, didn't come anywhere close to what Baldur's Gate 1&2 brought to the table. Still, it was fun to play, especially coop over LAN.

(Only 3 votes for the last option in the poll? Wow. VGChartz users spent over 4392hr gaming last year.) My favorite genre is platformer. Ran through SMGalaxy, Super Mario Bros 1 & 3, SM3DW+BF, Banjo Kazooie, SM64DS, NSMBDS, Astro Bot, and…I believe that’s everything. A lot of these were first playthroughs. So far this year, I’ve already gone through both DKCReturns & DKCTropical Freeze. Hoping to potentially add DKCTrilogy to this list too.

Not really but like I mainly play the expansions/dlc they keep pumping out for the Age of Empires / Mythology series, especially for Age 2 even tho its a 20+ year old game. Personally I learned RTS when I was like 5 years old with Age 2 so I don't find it mentally taxing/ I enjoy the battles when they come (and you get to choose when to attack yourself and where anyway, defending or dealing with raids is another matter)

Simulation I haven't played in a while, been waiting on Manor Lords to come out of early access, Cities Skylines 2 had mixed reviews etc.

But now that Civ 7 and 2 Point Museum 2 are out I might play a NEW sim game this year, if Ive got time. Probably just Civ 7 this year tho.

Edit: ALSO I tend to have more fun watching commentated matches for RTS, the pro players really makes things more fun than what I could do and you can learn the mechanics/strategies quickly in a fun way since you are just watching.

Nice to see another Age 2/ Mythology player. I will definitely be playing the Chinese expansion in Mythology this weekend. Do you play multiplayer?

hey, not anymore just the campaigns/skirmish to try the expansions.
maybe once the final mythology expansion comes out next year ill have time for multiplayer.

Japan would be cool, but I'm hoping for either Indianor Mesoamerican. I'm gonna play the expansion once i finish the last part of GoW Ragnarok
