Forums - Sports Discussion - NBA: Mavs and Lakers made a trade involving Luka Doncic for Anthony Davis!!!

What team won the trade?

Lakers 7 77.78%

Mavericks 1 11.11%

both 1 11.11%

Total:9

I'm a Heat fan, but I fell bad for Mavs fans... just one thing comes to my mind, Wtf the Mavs GM did?? I know he did it to try to win the 24/25 or 25/26 Championship, because Mavs need a top line defensive player, but Luka is younger and he is like a new Dirk for the Mavs fans.

PS: Luka didn't even asked for the trade.

Dallas local here, NO ONE is happy about this trade!!!! Local newspapers are already wondering wtf the Mavs are thinking. This trade makes no sense. It was bad enough thinking the Cowboys had the worst management

My entire social media timeline of friends and family is nonstop shock posts wondering what’s going on.

You called down the thunder, now reap the whirlwind

This is the most confusing thing I've seen in a long time.

The Mavs didn't like aspects of Luka's game? Maybe they were convinced that he was going to leave as a free agent? Okay, but he's a superstar, there has to be a way to get top value in return.

Instead they get a lot older with an injury prone guy who disappears in big moments? Now they have three guys in their thirties who are going to leave the Mavs as a lottery team in a few years? What the hell is the end game? Even if it's just "WIN NOW", they essentially mortgaged the future for a team that probably isn't as good as what they already had.

Has anyone in Mavs management tried to explain this yet?

As for the Lakers, I'm excited to see them play defense. I'm also excited to see how things work out with two guys who demand the ball. Is Bron going to yell at Luka the way he does his other teammates? They have to be looking at another trade.

I was thinking about something, maybe will be good for Doncic in his personal career, because Lebron will help him to be focused and in shape again, so in 25/26 maybe Lakers will have a chance to win the champs.

You do realize LJ is 40 years old and he's not getting any better?  While Luka is only 25.

It looks to me that the Lakers are putting their future in building a team around Luka. James is history.

That's why I said Lebron will help him with it, Lebron just can play like a superstar with 40 yrs because he have focus with everything and he can help Luka with it, because like you said Pelinka will build a Team around Luka right now.

They have a great back court, but a terrible front court.  James is not the same player he was a few years ago.  He has lost a few steps.

They have no chance of winning a title anytime soon.

This trade is not about the present, it's about the future after LJ retires.  Also, I must admit that I am a proud Celtics fan :)
