Holy Crap. I hope those frame rate issues are a problem with the video recorder he used or his specific PS3, because otherwise, the Sony version of GTAIV is in SERIOUS trouble.

Dude, when you try and judge a game's graphics from YouTube you are reaching...

When you try and judge the graphics from YouTube AND a handheld recording, you're really reaching...

Watch some of the handheld Gears of War stuff on YouTube... if I looked at that only I'd never have been interested in the game at all.

Read the bolded parts.  I fully qualified my statement with possible reasons why I was seeing what I was seeing.  At least one other person in the thread noticed framerate bumps as well.

I read your full post, and yes you nicely qualified your little dig at PS3  - my point remains that to make any assumptions based on the recording and playback conditions of this video is pretty useless.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

The video is great, the car slide pretty far when trying to make that corner, i hope it was just his bad driving and not a fault with the game.

I've gone back and watched it a couple more times and there are definitely small hiccups in the framerate throughout the video. I notice it primarily when wide-screen panning is occurring. They are minor, however, and not something that would detract from gameplay (if these were actual gameplay instead of a cut-scene). It could be video artifacts as well, but I believe they are in the actual intro itself. Again, they are small and you have to be looking for them.

In the end, it is an intro. If it does have a couple of framerate hiccups it is nothing to worry about unless they carry over into the game itself and actually affect gameplay. I guess we'll see in a week, won't we?

I'm very sensitive to framerate and tend to really notice when things change -- even slightly. I highly doubt, however, that GTAIV will have noticeable slowdown and the game will rock (for those that like the genre).

I hate trolls.

yes actually there are a few framerate drops, but nothing to cry over.

The framerate issues are worrying me a bit... The last trailer had tons of slowdown, let's hope it's a small issue in the finished product.

Before its removed.

Generally cool. Car handling/slide/skid more due to the fact its a crap car with soggy suspension and biscuits for tyres.

Difficult to study frame rate issues due to the camcorder its filmed on which is probably having a nightmare with the dark settings, relative closeup framing etc.
