Forums - Gaming - Does COD4 make anybody else sick?

I'm pretty good with motion sickness, I take long car trips, ride roller coasters never had a problem with motion sickness...til I played COD4.  First night I played it I threw up and felt completely nausious.  Sometimes (espeically in a dark lit room) its not bad at all to play, but other times, it litterly makes me vomit or get very, very nausious.  my biggest problem is Im completely addicted to the game and I keep going back for more, only to have to shut off the game after 5-6 rounds to go lay down.  Just wondering if its just me.  I have a 40 inch 1080p LCD and sit 10-12 feet away.

Sit back from the TV lol. In math we did a formula that tells you how far you should sit from a bigscreen HDTV but I forgot it.

I dont get sick from cod4, but its pretty boaring. I need another FPS. I hate resistance online, so I will probably pick up Haze

The only game that made me motion sick was Dragon Quest VIII, I had never any problems with motion sickness on a game....

Do you get motion sickness from Half Life 2? That seems to be another game that affects people.

I agree there, I never had any problems with motion sickness until I picked up The Orange Box. Can't play it for more than maybe a hour without getting a headache.

COD4's default FOV is 65 degrees. Pretty narrow, and could be the cause of your motion sickness. Do you have problems with any other games like Bioshock or Halo?

ive done that test and since its only a 40 inch, 10 feet is more than fine.

which Halo? Ive only played 1 & 2 and that wasn't on an HDTV.  I was fine with Bioshock on an HDTV.

I am also like you.  I've never played COD4, but I've flown planes, rode rollercoasters, etc. without any motion sickness.  But, the first time I played Mario 64 I got headaches from all the spinning.  Most 3d games that spin will give me a headache due to following the game around.  Doesn't mean I don't play them though :).
