Facebook now allows attacks on immigrants and trans people, and posts like “Mexican immigrants are trash!” and “I’m a proud racist.”

Meta is now granting its users new freedom to post a wide array of derogatory remarks about races, nationalities, ethnic groups, sexual orientations, and gender identities, training materials obtained by The Intercept reveal.

Examples of newly permissible speech on Facebook and Instagram highlighted in the training materials include:

• "Immigrants are grubby, filthy pieces of shit."
• "Gays are freaks."
• "Look at that tranny (beneath photo of 17 year old girl)."

At times, the provided examples appear convoluted or contradictory. One page notes "generalizations" about any group remain prohibited if they make a comparison to animals or pathogens — such as "All Syrian refugees are rodents." But comparisons to "filth or feces" are now downgraded from hate speech to a less serious form of "insult," which violates company rules only if directed at a protected group. According to examples provided by Meta, this change now allows users to broadly dehumanize immigrants with statements like like "Immigrants are grubby, filthy pieces of shit," despite language elsewhere in the document that claims "comparisons to subhumanity" remain banned.

The company's policy around nausea-based hate follows a particularly fine line: "Migrants are no better than vomit" is allowed, according to the materials, while "Muslims make me want to throw up" ought to be removed because it claims a group "causes sickness.

While general comparisons to animals are still against the rules, many other kinds of broad, hateful stereotyping is now allowed. "ALL behavioral statements (qualified and non-qualified)" are also now no longer against Meta's rules, the document reads, allowing sweeping generalizations connecting entire races or ethnic groups to criminality or terrorism. The document offers as examples of acceptable racial generalizations: "These damn immigrants can't be trusted, they're all criminals," "I bet Jorge's the one who stole my backpack after track practice today. Immigrants are all thieves," and "Japanese are all Yakuza." It notes, however, that the statement "Black people are all drug dealers" remains prohibited under the new rules.

Other sections of the materials provide examples of forbidden "insults about sexual immorality," such as "Jewish women are slutty." But the document also provides ample examples of newly permissible insults aimed at specific gender identities or sexual orientations, including "Gay people are sinners" and "Trans people are immoral." A post stating "Lesbians are so stupid" would remain prohibited as a "mental insult," though "Trans people are mentally ill" is marked as allowed.

While many of the examples and underlying policies seem muddled, the document shows clarity around allowing disparaging remarks about transgender people, including children. Noting that "'Tranny' is no longer a designated slur and is now non-violating," the materials provide three examples of speech that should no longer be removed: "Trannies are a problem," "Look at that tranny (beneath photo of 17 year old girl)," and "Get these trannies out of my school (beneath photo of high school students)."

Can't delete my main as FB messenger is how my family in The Netherlands contacts me. They use WhatsApp more but I have no smart phone and that's by Meta as well so no desire to sign up for that at all.

I prefer Discord nowadays, still independent for now although it has its own share of questionable issues.

Bring back AOL (AIM) or MSN Messenger. Social platforms are a fail.

Meta is the reason I avoided Threads and thankfully I don't have an Instagram either.

I do have a Facebook account but I never use it and sign in like once every few months, Lol. I'm more convinced than ever to delete it but it's my only link to a lot of family members and friends, I have WhatsApp too but in the UK it's hard not to have WhatsApp considering how practically everyone uses it for messaging now. But yeah Discord is like 90% of my social presence now, Lol.

All these unregulated social media platforms are going to doom us, humanity will become even more stupid, even more manipulated and they'll be nowhere to go to avoid all the disgusting hate which billionaires will not only look the other way on but actively encourage because as long as people are busy attacking each other for stupid shit, nobody is attacking the billionaires while they bleed the world dry.

I will say though I avoided deleted Twitter for months but when I finally did it was pretty damn easy to move on, to the point where, I think if Bluesky goes to shit I will just remember how easy it was to abandon Twitter and dump Bluesky too, I don't really feel the need to be on social media anymore. But nothing lasts forever, MSN was killed by Skype, Skype was killed by Discord, Myspace was killed by Facebook, Twitter is only being kept alive because Musk has other revenue streams and even unprofitable it's useful for the Republican Party, I hope Facebook one day dies.

Of course Trump would be willing to use military force to acquire Greenland, the Panama canal and possibly even Canada. Anyone who says otherwise is painfully naive. Everything he has been doing throughout his political carreer shows that no method is below his level of dignity, when it comes to trying to get what he wants. We were also told that he would never actually deny a election result, even though he said he would. How did that turn out? How dumb are you people?
Of course military force would not be the first method he would use, he will first try with threats and economic warfare.

Mayer she cut budgets for the fire department by over $17m.
Decides the fire department is "too white" (not diverse enough). So they fire some fire fighters, and start trying for more diverse fire fighters (women, and men of color).
However these people are still in the training phase.
Then there is a lack of equipment because they sent some to Ukraine (ontop of the budget cuts, might be a while before their stock is back to normal).
There is the situation with fire hydrants not having water pressure enough to be used to fight the fires with.

Also this was something Joe Rogan warned about in mid-2024, said he talked to a fighter fighter, that said this could very well happen and they would not be able to do a damn thing about it. It's mostly just luck, that kept this from happening earlier.

I think the world at large would not take it.... then again, I think the USA has the power to beat the entire world, if it wants to fight everyone.

Also, when was the last time a country was conquered? Does the USA really to go that far, in the claims of "world peace" ?
I think Greenland is happy as is, its independent but apart of Denmark. We support it financially (its a small country population wise).
