The fastest selling console in most markets is the Wii. There is no reason for it to slow down, and plenty of reason for it to speed up.

Personally,I´ll only consider the Wii "this gen´s true PS2 successor" when it starts stealing a considerable amount of high profile 3rd party titles away from PS3/360...with the userbase growing much faster than the one on PS3/360,I´d suppose it´s only a matter of time....I think...how long did it take for the PS1 to start getting major 3rd party titles one after the other?

If you knew anything at all about christiananity, youd know that theres a large difference between jesus and god, so, you lose. 

 PS1 started getting them quickly because Sony had a far better 3rd party royalty strategy than did Nintendo and CD's were far cheaper for them to manufacture than cartridges.

There was a very clear business incentive to jump ship to Sony land back then.  Those same advantages are no longer in play so it's not a valid comparison.

The wii dominates now but there's no way of telling what will happen in the future when factors such as pricecuts,new games,new features and the general sense of the market come into place,maybe people will want an HD console or player when they look at the other platforms or better games you never know i mean the wii cant just sell forever on the appeal of the hardware alone and that seems to be the case with potential buyers.

Define 'brightest future':

Oh you meant hopfully catching 2nd place by the end of the current gen lifecycle, NOT being the fastest selling system of all time?  Hmmm, interesting...

Best technology?  In what sense?  Solely in textured/lighted Polygons/sec, or in physics and AI probably, but there is a lot more to the technology in a game system than the graphics pipeline...

 As for the PS3 being the best console ever, I don't even think a 2/3 majority of rabid sony fanboys will proclaim that.  I am sure harkening back to the PSX or PS2 will drive most discussion of Sony fanboy's 'best console evere' arguments.

Not to mention you start with 'will be...'  When?  What will turn the tides, what inevitability is yet to come that will make the PS3 'bigger and better.'  By your own statement, the PS3 ISN'T bigger and better now (hence the 'will be',) so it must not be hardware related...

So, to summarize:

In the future, sony will release some firmware update that will make the PS3 'bigger' and 'better' than all other consoles on the market.  And by 'bigger and better,' it is meant that it will take over second place.  It may not have a bright future when it comes to hardware or software sales, but, uh, FFXIII!  Bright bright future.  No doubt the PS3 is even better than its ancestors, though I have no real basis for that argument.

Oh man, the old game quality/shovelware arguement. ::sigh::. Someone in a previous thread was using IGN scores to show how the Wii has the most shovelware coming out on it, than any other system has before. I actually put plenty of research into countering it.

I put my findings together for the first 15 months of life of the PS1, PS2, and Wii. And yah know, there actually was a higher rate of shovelware in the Wii than the PS2. But....it was dead on, for the PS1, the last time there was a big shift in 3rd party support.

This phenomenon of shovelware on the leading system is nothing new. Look in my post history if you want to find it. I'm just too lazy right now.
