Yeah I'm seeing a LOT of positive impressions from tech youtubers who got to get some hands on that I trust like Retro Game Corps, Dave2D, and ETA Prime. Dave2D in particular had just recently shredded the new Lenovo Legion handheld that came with Windows versus the edition that comes with SteamOS. And deservedly so. The Windows edition cost more, OS being not suitable for handheld, and games ran worse.

With this new version of Windows, they're talking about how performance has been incredibly good up to this point, and even the UI is shockingly smooth that Dave2D has a hard time believing it lol.

Kinda funny that Xbox is finally becoming what Bill Gates originally wanted when he was sold on the Xbox concept......Windows on a game console.

Need the Xbox UI downloadable on all PCs next.

Then whether the next Xbox is a PC or not, I'll be migrating over to PCMR.

Would you? This new Xbox UI is clearly made with handheld/mobile computing in mind. Although there does seem to be a "desktop mode" like SteamOS, but it isn't clear so far if you suddenly have full Windows at your disposal of if it's this curated version of Windows.

Not this UI but a Xbox UI. The next Xbox console is going to be a PC-like system either way so I'll wait for that but it would be pretty cool if they bring "Xbox" to all Windows PC too.

Microsoft rep also made another statement

“The Xbox full screen experience will come first to Ally and Ally X and we will update the in market ROG Ally and Ally X. Similar full screen Xbox experiences will be rolling out to other Windows handhelds beginning next year.”

This is an Xbox.

...and a PC and a Playstation

...to avoid getting banned for inactivity, I may have to resort to comments that are of a lower overall quality and or beneath my moral standards.

Surreal to look at.

This is Xbox Studios in 2025. Likely the strongest, most varied line-up Xbox first-party ever had.

It was always baffling to me that anyone ever seriously suggested Sony could or even would block Xbox branded devices (and even the next Xbox/PC hybrid console) from playing PlayStation games. They have literally no reason to (folk need to stop thinking the next Xbox will compete with PlayStation) and not to mention it would be a frigging nightmare to even...How do you block it? Lol.

I'm still trying to figure out how the next Xbox will be a PC. Primarily because of Play Anywhere. The whole concept of the program is that you get the game on console and PC, and vice versa. If the next Xbox is PC like in nature, then what's the point of Play Anywhere?

I noticed Xbox has changed their showcase wording compared to the past few showcases too.

Before it was "every game shown today will be on Xbox Game Pass"

This time it was "every game shown today will be on Xbox Play Anywhere"

So with this big of a push for Play Anywhere, then there will still have to be a huge differentiator between the Xbox console and PC.

It would be cumbersome and honestly beyond petty to do so, but it would most likely revolve around MAC addresses. The entire core principal of networking is that in order to connect to anything (internet then to a server, etc) a MAC table has to be established between the source and receiving first before an IP address is provided and the device can then connect. And the whole point of a MAC address is that it's unique to that specific device. No 2 MAC addresses are the same, BUT, the first half of a MAC address is unique to the manufacturer.

The way Sony could potentially do it is by constantly scanning for all devices whose first half of their MAC begins with, in this particular case, ROG Xbox Ally, and ban that manufacturer MAC.

The key difference though is how Sony would handle single player only games. Because the games are still hosted on Valve's and Epic's servers. Sony could only do the scenario I mentioned on the games that require a PSN account on PC. If you're downloading God of War or Days Gone, I have no idea how Sony could prevent that. And I doubt Valve or Epic would be interested in providing dedicated resources in helping Sony find a solution.
