Ninja Gaiden 4 better get a real physical release. This Game Key Disc for Doom is utter bullshit. If my copy had not shipped, I'd cancel. Only 85MB are on the disc. What the fuck. And they didn't even advertise that. This shit should be made clear well in advance because I feel like I just got scammed.

It's only 85MB on the PS5 copy as well. MS made no effort to inform anyone of this. I'm not the one to do it but feel this is grounds for a lawsuit for false advertising. Willing to bet Reloaded will be a Game Key disc and MS won't tell anyone. Just like Indiana Jones.

It's 100% BS. And it's unfortunately not limited to as recent as Indiana Jones either. It's progressed pretty much throughout the entirety of this gen for Xbox. Idk if these major releases will ever be rectified either. There were at least the likes of Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, etc through Limited Run Games, but those have been the exceptions to the rule.

With Xbox's biggest business endeavors going forward being Game Pass and Play Anywhere through as many devices as possible with their "This is an Xbox" campaign, putting in the effort to put games entirely on disc doesn't make much financial sense and, in a sense, goes against what they're marketing. We don't even know if that Gears Reloaded on PS5 will be fully on disc either. Not the gaming future I had hoped for.

I don't think Hi Fi Rush LRG is happening. They have been dead silent for a year. No updates. LRG has done this before, where they announce something to never be mentioned again.

IIRC Xbox still uses 50GB Blu-Ray whilst Sony uses 66GB and 100GB so Indiana Jones would have been two discs on PlayStation or none at all, Doom obviously could have fit on a single disc for PlayStation though as it's "only" 85GB but then the Xbox version would have had to be two discs. As someone that is fully digital, I see it more as a waste of plastic at this stage to even bother with a disc considering they don't fit the whole thing on, but they absolutely should make clear it's not the whole game on the disc aside from the "internet required" tagline.

You’re kidding lol JFC. Yeah LRG does have that reputation. The alternatives aren’t even that much better.

Xbox going with key cards or digital-only and Nintendo only offering GK cards or a 64GB card will only exacerbate the issue with physical games going forward.

I collect games and like to own the things I buy. It is actually more environmentally damaging to run servers to download games over 10 GB. Two discs—big whoop. Discs cost very little to make, and MS is not exactly strapped for cash. FF7 Rebirth came on two discs on PS5. Every PS1 RPG was on two discs. RE4 on Gamecube was two discs. LO and Blue Dragon on 360 were multiple discs.

Japan and asia are still heavily physical and so many games that don't get a physical in the US get one over there. Like Ninja Gaiden II Black. MS has zero presence in Japan or Asia so I guess they feel they can get away with it.

Only anecdotal. Just got back from a small trip over the weekend for Mother's Day. I got to hang out with my brothers and nieces and spoke to them about the Switch 2 about to come out and Next Gen systems for Xbox and PS. All of us game on multiple platforms. I was a bit taken back by their responses to the all digital format we're being converted to. All of them said they no longer have any interest in gaming in all digital and won't be purchasing any of the Next Gen devices. Not even the Switch 2.

...to avoid getting banned for inactivity, I may have to resort to comments that are of a lower overall quality and or beneath my moral standards.

Tbh the whole market is pushing towards it, even happening to Nintendo who have the lowest digital-physical ratio, Lol. Xbox hasn't bothered with physical discs with the entire download on them in a long time and soon enough I see them doing away with the discs entirely, 91% of Xbox software sales are digital, the physical community on Xbox is becoming almost non-existent.

The ratio is better for PS but still a majority digital but then if you do a physical release for PS5 only and not one for Xbox, you get Xbox gamers angry shouting on the internet that PS is getting preferential treatment and Microsoft doesn't care about Xbox and they're trying to kill Xbox and all that, Lol. Which I just saw happen with Gears but we don't have full confirmation of what is happening there.

Avowed's only "physical" release was just a code in a box which was advertised as both Xbox and Windows Store because obviously all 1st party releases are Play Anywhere now so I could see that being the case with Gears of War Reloaded too, they're trying to blur the lines between Xbox and PC. Since physical is basically not a thing for PC, they may do away with the disc and just say "This physical copy of Gears Reloaded gives you access to it on both Xbox and PC as it's Play Anywhere" so in effect it is a Xbox physical too, but without a disc, Lol.

But I don't know because there will be drama if PlayStation gets a physical disc and Xbox doesn't, even if that PS physical disc is just a paperweight activation disc which I think is very likely, I'll wait and see before jumping to conclusions but I find it odd Gears would even get a physical disc in the first place when Forza Horizon 5 didn't on PS5 and Forza Horizon is low-key bigger than Gears now, by a lot, Lol.
