Sucks to hear Iron Galaxy is barely hanging on, I hope they are working on Killer Instinct to give them a lifeline. ProbablyMonsters had more layoffs, even the company with the largest Series A raised to date in the gaming industry is struggling. Roblox is down 26% in premarket trading due to less than expected bookings, the Roblox CFO had this to say about the gaming industry: "We're growing at a substantial premium to the overall gaming market. Right now, gaming is barely growing as a category".

  • EA -7%
  • Koei Tecmo: -14%
  • CyberAgent: -15%
  • Capcom: -16%

Expecting 2025 to be another rough year for the industry.

Based on inflation gaming is down and shrunk by 13% (was also in the presentatoin of the state of the video game industry link I posted before)

NeversKnowBest also made a great video about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2QgQtoGHRY

Sounds more like GDC than an E3 replacement.

Now playing Avowed, given to me by Obsidian & Xbox.

Crazy to think I've covered this game as a fan for years from announce to today. If you know me, you know I love Obsidians style of games; imho Grounded is a masterpiece in design & creativity.

Thoughts coming February 13.

That's what I thought to but they are still only predicting single digit growth. Maybe they are just setting very low expectations on sales for those games just in case and hoping for bigger sales.

Next Quarter is Jan - March isn't it? So it'll be the quarter after which we will see their projections for all this.

I also made a mistake, it would be their Q4, not their Q2, I was using calendar quarters instead of business quarters, Lol.

  • Q3 would be Jan - March 31st so basically Avowed.
  • Q4 would be April - June 30th so all of that + Oblivion Remaster.

Oh ok good catch I thought for sure it would include all the other games. Well damn to have single digit growth next quarter with only Avowed is very good IMO. The one after that should be double digits.

It's like this with every recent Xbox game, Lol. People shouting "Where is the marketing?!" but Microsoft nowadays spams the marketing in the final two weeks and Aaron is like "Here it is! Shut up!"
