I'm curious which companies that Microsoft has acquired recently (in the past 10 years) that have turned out content that XBox fans have really enjoyed. Or are we just now about to see the fruits of all these purchases?

Here's what I enjoyed, non exhaustil just those I remember right now, Grounded (Obsidian), pentiment (Obsidian), Hi-Fi Rush (Tango), Minecraft (Mojang), Psychonauts 2 (Double fine). The thing is that there are not many acquisitions that are 5-10 years (there's just Mojang) so all others 5- years old which left little time for a full dev cycle

FWIW: All their current studios aside from Mojang and Rare were acquired in the past 5 years.

So your assumption would be right, the fruits of these purchases are only just starting to show, with how long development times are nowadays, plus studios expanding from AA to AAA, plus the COVID hit to development and with some studios having prior commitments.

But for the studios acquired since 2018, I'll answer anyway, but a lot of them are multiplatform due to prior commitments.

  • Playground - Forza Horizon 4 & 5 (Loved).
  • Obsidian - The Outer Worlds, Grounded (Great - Great).
  • Double Fine - Psychonauts 2 (Loved).
  • Tango Gameworks - Hi Fi Rush (Loved).

Didn't play Pentiment, Wasteland 3, Deathloop or Ghostwire Tokyo but 3/4 scored very strongly critically.

Looking forward to Fable from Playground, Avowed from Obsidian (2024), The Outer Worlds 2 from Obsidian, Clockwork Revolution from InXile, Hellblade II from Ninja Theory (2024) and of course, Starfield from Bethesda in a few months.

Completely random idea and I don't know if it would work.

Microsoft should give Limited Run Games the rights to make physical copies of any Xbox IP that Xbox choses not to and incentivise it by giving LRG's a higher % split of the profits

Lmao.

Lina Khan has got to go, what a utter fucking waste of time and money, she has been utterly terrible at her job and just speed-running the FTC into a car crash.

Don't think there's a high likelihood of that but it would be so deserved if they just got denied failing to show an error from Judge Corley.

They need an emergency stay to stop the Friday date and an appeal win I believe, they have next to no chance at either, all this constant fuckery from the FTC just gives others so much ammo against them.
