Forums - Politics - Russia and Ukraine flashpoint

This right here is why Russia delays things, they know it won't be long before they install Russian puppets into these countries. This has always been a major reason why "as long as it takes" was stupid. We're experiencing waves across the world of single-issue, uneducated, easily manipulated, anti-establishment voters. It no longer matters if a country supports Ukraine as long as the leader screams about a single issue, for the UK that will be immigrants, despite how pro-Ukraine that the UK is, we will likely vote Reform in.

We never had Hungary but we lost Slovakia, we narrowly avoided losing Moldova, we're on the verge of losing Romania, countries with key logistical hubs into Ukraine. We've essentially lost America. Russia interferes in every single one of these elections with their bot farms via social media and China attacks us too via TikTok and Europe has exactly zero counter to it and just lets it happen.

The UK, France and Germany could have far-right governments in the future who will cut aid to Ukraine and it doesn't matter if the majority support Ukraine still when they're being fooled by these idiots on a single issue, when these idiots pretend they're "anti-establishment" and "of the people" and at this stage I'm kind of done trying to change the mind of Reform voters, if they win then they'll suffer the consequences and UK will burn and collapse worse than Liz Truss budget but can we at least save Ukraine first before we put a bullet in our heads?

The only salvation seems like it would be the parliament system...It makes it a lot harder for these far-right parties to rule without a majority and achieving a majority is often difficult, the only comfort I take is that being the biggest party in parliament doesn't mean you had the majority of votes. But left wing parties are often split, Labour is doing a bang up job of losing all their left wing voters to Lib Dems/Greens but also trying to appeal to right wing voters who will vote Reform no matter what in light of Conservatives collapse into nothing.

I can't see Reform or AfD achieving a majority in parliament so I pray whoever they're forced to coalition with would demand Ukraine support.

🇷🇴 Bucharest: Supporters of Nicușor Dan are gathering and celebrating in the city center as he looks set to win Romania’s presidential election. Vote counting is still underway, but the momentum is clearly on his side.

Nicușor Dan has won the Romanian presidential election with about 54% of the vote. He is mathematically certain to do so; even if Simion received 100% of all the remaining votes, Dan would still receive the most votes.

Disaster narrowly avoided, Putin wasted his money again, but I don't feel comfort by wins this small in both Romania and Moldova. Anyway, the pro-Russian candidate declared victory over an hour ago, he has now clearly lost, if he maintains his lie like Trump taught politicians to do so after losing then I hope it doesn't lead to violence.

Russia is attacking our democracies, the sooner the whole government of Russia is dead, the better for all of Europe. Anyways, the pro-Russian candidate is whining so expect protests and I guarantee he will screech to Donald Trump and JD Vance to save him and those dumb fucking idiots will probably try to shove their noses into another countries politics once again.

We have told the Russians that Congress will pass a bill on sanctions if there is no progress in the negotiations on Ukraine.

Congress passing sanctions legislation against Russia is something we cannot stop or control.

— MAKS 24 👀🇺🇦 (@maks23.bsky.social) 17 May 2025 at 22:28

The way that Rubio has worded that is definitely interesting, Lol.

"Congress passing sanctions is something we cannot stop or control" That...Sounds like lip service to Russia, like "Please don't be mad at us, it was Congress who sanctioned you, we can't control Congress, if you don't do peace soon then Congress will force us to be mean to you" Lol. But I don't think Rubio is a Russian shill, he simply works for one so has to tow the line, so I wonder if he's saying in a manner of "I know my administration is full of Russian stooges but it won't matter because Congress will force the sanctions" Either way the wording looks incredibly pathetic, almost like you're saying "Please don't be angry at us" to Russia and throwing the blame on someone else.

Only got to cross the Dnieper River again to take Kherson City and to take Kharkiv meaning to take the 2nd largest city in Ukraine which would be the biggest capture Russia has done in Ukraine since the start of the full scale invasion, sounds like a simple task! And to achieve this in 7 months. Putin is utterly delusional. We'll soon see 2m deaths if they make a move on Kherson and Kharkiv in 2025.
