Forums - Gaming - Skyrim Anniversary Edition. PS5 vs Xbox Series X.

Summary

PS5 is native 4k, but Series X is dynamic 4k.

Both have a stable frame rate of 60fps.

I can't tell the difference.

Drawing distance is highest for Series X.

Load time is the shortest on PS5.

Despite being Bethesda's iconic game, the PS5 version seems to be superior overall. In fact, the load time comparison is often always overlooked, but this is the part that truly

Like most comparisons between PS5 and XSX versions of games, the difference is small and it really doesn't matter.

fun fact which is left out by OP for obvious reasons the series version is just the BC version with FPS boost

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

TL;DR they're basically visually identical and PS5 loads slightly faster.

No one would have thought that would happen with a Bethesda game.

The load times for the Elden Ring. PS5 version has been confirmed to be a third of the time of the series X version. I was wrong .

If developers take more advantage of PS5, the same will be possible for Skyrim.

The difference in load time is important. Please don't tell me it isn't.

What does that have to do with game performance? Both are $50.

No one is going to say "I enjoyed this game more because it loaded in 2 seconds instead of 4 seconds."

It is undeniably better on ps5, but to gamers playing games? Who gives a damn.

4 second loading times Vs 2 seconds isn't going to impact my choice for where to play it in the slightest.

Over the past year specific titles have gone back and forth over which sku was superior and even then it wasn't that much of a difference. The big talk at that time was how the Series X was going to be the king of multiplats and now tallying up the DF comparisons over the last year PS5 comes out with a slight advantage more often than not. DF comparisons are rarely posted now likely for this reason. It's a narrative that can no longer be spun by the usual suspects. Nonetheless, it's still nice to see and remind people such as Albert Penello, Tom Warren and quite a few others that they were wrong. :)

Xbox Series X isn't dominating these comparisons like the PS4 did back in the day & I don't see that changing over the course of the generation either. At best, it will have a few slight advantages, but nowhere near the delta that flooded the discourse about these machines during the pre launch months.
