Untouch, that was quite funny.

CaptainPrefrences, I doubt you can still play online. But you can get the system cheap, a place at the Daytona flea market was selling used, with all the cords and controller for 20 freaking bucks!! I almost walked out with one but then decided not to, kinda kicking myself now.

I really doubt the Dreamcast used above-480p resolutions >_>

@fazz

I don't think it did either, it just used a cable that could do above that, making people think it made the games look better.

Dreamcast Output:
Input/Output

* Inputs: USB-like "Maple Bus". Four ports support devices such as digital and analog controllers, steering wheels, joysticks, keyboards and mice, and more.
* Color Output: Approx. 16.78 million colors (24-bit)
* Video resolution: 640x480 interlaced or progressive scan

It did make games look better. VGA/Component > S-Video > Composite.

Um it's not about the resolutions. See pcs that are around 15 yrs old could do these resolutions, but not at without losing out on other things. It has been like that until recently where HD resolutions are being tooken advantage of to make the graphics look better.
Lol. U sur has tooken advantage of ur vocabulary.

@ sublime78

where would you find the games though?

I still gotta get around to playing the Genesis Shadowrun one of these days. I'm madly in love with the SNES version. It's one of my favorites.

I can't believe they turned it into an online-only FPS. Such a waste of a brilliant story.

I loved my DC, and I had the VGA cables. It set the monitor at 800x600 if I recall. Not sure the games were native at that resolution, but even if they were, it's not HD. Still looked awesome for its day though :)

Yeah, I guess I was wrong about the resolution, sorry about that. I guess at the time it just blew my socks off and now trying to remember it I'm glorifying it more than I should. But I know it was better than anything hooked up to a TV. And I've played computer games since the beginning of computer games... I know what a good resolution is, I also know what upscaling is, I don't think it was doing anything like that. If it was fooling me, maybe... but it sure spanked the pants off of standard definition television graphics. I would think 800x600 was probably about right.

Even if it was 640x480 progressive the original point still remains, I don't think any other system was doing that during that time. Correct me if I'm wrong but PS2 and Xbox didn't go there till a few years later.

CaptainPrefrences, I dunno. We have used game places around here that carry some, limited though. Honestly if you could get down to that place in Daytona they probably had a good 30 or so different games, then ebay maybe as well. I don't really know if its worth the hassle anymore.
