This God of War and FF Dissidia are really getting me excited for upcoming PSP games...

Don't forget that the hour count of a FF game includes a minimum of 20% FMV, 30% running around dungeons with random encounters, and at least another 20% on top of that as additional grinding to be able to beat bosses. =P

Btw I can read most of that stuff with a dictionary, but slowly. If there's a single that's too vague in the translation, then I can try figuring it out for you, but I lack the interest to do the whole thing. Of course a place like this is bound to have a few people who are Japanese/actually fluent at the language, but I'll do my best if nobody else feels like it.

Random encounters have been dropped from FF games since FF XII, I got nothing against lots of FMV as long as it's not lame (which FF ones aren't usually) and grinding is necessary in most RPGs and specifically JRPGs...

30-100hrs is a pretty big window

30h - 100h sounds good to me. Probably it depends of subquests, secrets etc. If main storyline offers 30h it's great.

I find that in recent RPGs I don't have to grind outside of the main path in order to beat bosses, too.  I played FF1 recently on normal difficulty and had to sit outside of town for hours to level just to get through the next dungeon.  After 5 hours in I decided to go with the easy difficulty that enabled me to go from one quest to the other without extra grinding.  It still wasn't easy, but if there's no chance of dying it's not much fun.
