Forums - Gaming Discussion - Monster Hunter Stories 2 Review! (see? I didn't put a line from the review in the title!)

I never played the first MHStories, so this was my first venture into this spinoff. While I have 1000+ hours in the main MH series, was this game just the thing I never knew I needed?

I'm figuring a lot of you purposely DON'T click the thread title if it seems "clickbait-ey", though I've never used a clickbait title: they've always been straight up lines quoted right out of the video lol

Generious score you gave it, considering all the negatives you pointed out.
Makes you wonder what it takes to get a lower score lol.

Case in point, your "Ghost of Tsushima not directors cut" review, you kept mentioning things you loved, and praiseing it, and it ends up at 8.
MHS2, you kept pointing out flaws, and somehow that gets a 7,5 :p

I say this not as demeaning as it sounds, but sweeping generalizations usually make everything seem more muddy than they really appear. Ghost of Tsushima is an open-world, action adventure game.  MHStories2 is a JRPG/Pokemon hybrid.  The two scores do not compute against/together lol

HOWEVER, if you wanted to nitpick, I can humor you for a moment:

Ghost of Tsushima: cookie cutter open-world formula; good combat gameplay

MHStories2: outdated world formula; good combat gameplay

Ghost of Tsushima: last gen graphical underpinnings, but a smooth 60 fps framerate, great respect of source Japan era

MHStories2: MT Framework (read: old) graphical underpinnings, with a terrible often-sub 10fps framerate, great use of animation and art style

VOILA! One has a near-solid 60fps, the other is lucky to hit 15fps during action.  0.5 points awarded to Ghost of Tsushima

Find you another YouTube that has the balls to analyze themselves like this, lol

And you say "what gets a lower score" like I want to ACTIVELY find bad games... I mean, come on, I'm not going to score a game badly "just because" people want a diversity in scores (that's dishonest reviewing right there, and I've SEEN that).  Both of these games make genuine efforts, and I've always been able to recognize that.  You want a bad review?  Go watch my Aliens: Colonial Marines review lmfao
