2) The secret video reset

One of the most annoying aspects of the PS3 are its video settings. Take it up to the bedroom portable or round to a friend's house and there's a good chance that you won't be able to see anything on screen because your 'new' TV is running at a different resolution or using a different cable connection. And - because you can't see anything - you can't change it.

Until now. Shut down your PS3 then restart by pressing and holding the power button. This will reset your PS3 to its most basic 480p graphics mode so you'll be able to see enough to choose RGB SCART, component, HDMI or whatever from here.

Wow thats going to make life easier for me since I'm constantly moving my PS3 to a tv with a different video imput.

5 can be done on 360 to. Also 7 will void your warranty. And 11 was a cheap shot but funny nonetheless. A pity you cant use Media Centre. I stream everything from HD movies to images through my network. I can watch my HD copy of The Matrix on 920 GB pc HDD on my 42" HDTV without cables or a disc. Streamed to my 360. Oh yes.

er...you can easily stream videos on the ps3...

Wher did I say you cant. PS3 works best with TVersity. Thats what you need installed on your pc to get full advantage of PS3 and pc. I was on about media centre. People kinda use it on PS3 but it buggers up. Hence TVersity. If you can answer a question for me, can you stream HD content from PC to PS3 or just standard video? Genuine ? guys.

You can stream any video, provided it uses a supported codec.

Yep, found this out at some point because I kept having to switch tvs. When I switch to a CRT I use this method, and when you switch back to HDMI it will bring up a message during the load and allow you to switch automatically so you don't have to do that in the menus either. I already knew 1-11 but these are good tips. I agree with someone above that Linux installation is another nice feature.

Are any of these things gonna sell consoles? I think not. It should be 11 obscure things, 99% of people will ever need or use on the ps3.

-UBISOFT BOYCOTT!-

Download game saves = Achievement hacks for PS3 Home??

Thats the way cheaters do it for the 360.... Through a hacked HDD and transferring saved files

number 11 is enough dude. i dont get that, lazy americans will just buy faulty stuff without doing any research. would you get a car if there was over a 50% chance that your transmission would blow out after a year?! duh....

the list should have included its ability to play mp4s and divx and other movie types, the ability to run linux and the host of programs that can run. The ability to be used to connect to a media server. Its inter-changeable viewing options for the music player, its confusing ability to sort content into folders (movies, demos). The ability to adjust the volume of a movie through the ps3. Its maintained audio when you play something in slow motion (hilarious)

These things are not great by any means ... but all are possible and some people don't know about them.

Either way the OP was very interesting and informative.
